The rate of scam ongoing in the crypto world is alarming and it therefore calls for attention.
I will be sharing some tricks scammers use in order to protect your digital asset from theft.
A very popular place where scam occurs the most is on discord. A friend of mine shared a story with me how she joined discord community and she received a direct message from a server moderator on informing her of how she participated in a giveway to win 0.5 BTC which she did.
The moment she ran joyously to me I was anticipating to hear some good news from her. Then I ask what it is she told me she had won 0.5 BTC in a giveaway organized on twitter.
The scammer took it to the point where they both had a video call and she was shown the bitcoin. Though she is new into crypto and I am also.
Along the line, during the verification process where it will require you to insert keys to your wallet and verify.
I remembered that I cautioned her at that stage but she didn’t listen. Though she had up to $500 worth of assets in her wallet, I never knew how the scammer withdrew everything living what can be seen below.
Rules Guiding The Crypto System For Newbies
Store your passwords offline
Your passwords should be stored offline, should incase trusted media agencies latter compromise in the future to leak out passwords of users to third parties.
The economic condition globally is getting worse day by day that I seat to imagine if the money actually disappears into thin air by superior orders.
Storing your passwords offline especially for web3 social platforms and wallets should be your focus. If you have passwords stored in your mail, you can delete them now and save a copy offline.
Avoid clicking unknown links
This was the cause of her losing the funds in her wallet due to the fact she clicked an unknown link. I also learnt of a friend who lost his assets and password immediately reset after he clicked a spam link, what happens is that once you click the link details of your keys are been shared to the computer that hosted the link which makes it easier to log in your account.
Do not respond to private dm from social site
I know we all have different servers where we can perform some task to get paid on discord or twitter. But you should be careful to watch out for private messages from scammers.
They even go to the point of cloning an admin account promising to offer help concerning an activity. Please do not hesitate to block the person immediately. If you are on discord, you can turn off private dm settings.
For twitter scams tagging Elon musk on the blue tick informing you why you should participate in airdrop please avoid such.
Thanks for reading this content, I am wishing you a nice journey through the crypto space. Crypto is the future.
