"Do Kwon, the disgraced crypto prodigy who co-founded Terraform Labs, might soon face a vigilante brand of justice as a desperate investor has decided to put matters into his own hands and go the extra mile just to find him and seek retribution. As the South Korean national continues with his Houdini act to evade capture, frustration grows among investors who lost a fortune after the May Terra Crash that wiped out around $40 billion from the crypto market in just a matter of days" [Encila, C. Do Kwon: Why This Group Of 4,400 Crypto Investors Are Hunting Down The CEO. (Accessed October 21, 2022)].
"Members of a 4,400-strong Discord group called the UST Restitution Group (URG) have been attempting to track down the whereabouts of Terra co-founder Do Kwon. Members of the group, seemingly out of frustration at the lack of results from law enforcement agencies, are scouring the internet for clues and sharing them with the group in an attempt to track down Kwon" [Huigsloot, L. 4,400 disgruntled investors are hunting for Terra’s Do Kwon. (Accessed October 21, 2022)].
According to the members of this group, it has been suggested that Kwon may be residing in such places as Russia, Dubai, Azerbaijan, Seychelles and Mauritius. Some have even expressed the possibility he is residing on a yacht.
In fact, "based on recent activities involving the Terra founder such as his suspicious transfer of 3,313 Bitcoin to two overseas crypto exchanges just last month, a number of crypto retail investors believe he might be in Dubai. According to them, the place is crypto-friendly in terms of regulations and might have been the perfect place for Do Kwon to facilitate the BTC transfers. The Emirati city has limited extradition treaties" [Encila, supra].
This URG group apparently means business. "One member of URG, Kan Hyung-suk, will soon be traveling to Dubai, according to an Oct. 19 report from the Financial Times, a city where many from the group believe Kwon is hiding. Another member from the URG was reported as saying: 'Dubai is friendly to crypto, very international (he would not stand out), and has limited extradition treaties in place. It would seem like the best fit for the 3-5 hour timezone shift apparent in the data” [Huigsloot, supra].
"This could turn out to be ugly for Kwon as Kang has already made it clear he has put justice into his own hands. He (Kang) is also asking his fellow investors to join him on this manhunt to finally bring justice to everyone who has suffered because of Terra Lab’s enormous collapse" [Encila, supra].
"It would appear the once high-flying crypto expert is playing mind games with authorities as he denies being on the run from the prosecutors and cops. On September 27, 2022, various online media outlets reported Do Kwon responding to a Twitter comment asking where he is, saying he is currently in his living room 'writing code” [Id].

Kwon was interviewed on Oct. 19 by Laura Shin, a crypto-journalist and host of the Unchained podcast, who asked him a range of questions relating to current news stories. Speaking on his current whereabouts, Kwon suggested that he moved from Singapore following the Terra crash due to privacy and personal security concerns, saying as an example that his apartment was broken into, and stated: 'It’s not in the interest of being on the run or something like that, that I don’t want to disclose where I live. It’s just that every time the location where I live becomes known, it becomes almost impossible for me to live there.'

"As the Terra founder continues to hide and evade arrest, the URG will continue to pursue clues that will determine his whereabouts. For now, attention is on Kang Hyung-suk as he embarks on a mission to find the elusive big-time crypto figure" [Encila, supra].
