If you have been following this account (or even @jonsjourney) you will know I'm a bit of a bible fanatic. Obviously, that goes without saying....But I also love collecting bibles as well.
Some may say this could be considered idol worship, but there is a method to my madness. Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, I think it's very important for us to have as many physical copies of scripture as possible....In the future, I think everything will be digital and who knows what AI might decide is canon.
Anywho.....
One kind of bible I have never owned (until a few days ago) has been a wide margin bible.
Wide margins are sometimes called a thinking man and woman's bible. The entire purpose of these kind of bibles is to literally create a study bible with your own study notes. Some may have references and but generally, the space provided in a wide margin is meant to be filled up with....
Your own study notes!
I've been in the market for a wide margin bible now for quite some time, and it's been a battle for sure....
So at the beginning of the year, I got a KJV Sovereign Collection Wide Margin bible. I did a review of it which you can see here:
I absolutely LOVE the text layout of this bible. It's pretty much the perfect layout for me, and combined with it being a wide margin, I was super excited to get started with it and will it up with my own notes.
Sadly, the publisher of this bible used a printing company that obviously had never tried to bind a bible before and it was an awful experience. But I kept reading up on this bible and generally people say, you have to search to find one that is binded properly....
Well I found a leathersoft version of it earlier this week :)
And it's in fantastic shape!
So my wide margin journey will begin now :)
While it's not genuine leather, the Thomas Nelson leathersofts are really nice. So I'll be diving into this bible a lot in the coming weeks, and filling it up with my own study notes through scripture!
Do you have wide margins in your library?
Have you used them or have any techniques you have used to mark your bible?
Or do you even write in your bibles?
I would love to hear any thoughts about the wide margin bible options that are out there, and if people enjoy their time while marking up their bibles :)
