This is a question for everyone including me, How much have we saved in 2022??
I had a deep thought about it and I checked my account balances with three banks and I realized that both on my major savings bank account and the other bank accounts , I have not been able to really save up to an amount which was my target..
Initially , my plan was to always save at least 20% of my monthly income , if I had sticked to the plan consistently , then it means after a year i would have saved up to an amount which is equal to my two months income at least.....
For example if my monthly income is equal to $10,000 and I save 20% of it every month which is $2,000 , it means after a year I would have saved up to $24,000 and that is equal to even more than my two months income , but sadly I was not able to maintain the consistency in savings towards achieving my target..
I think that lack of financial discipline or let me say the ability to avoid distraction was the reason why I could not keep up with my saving plans , assuming I was not getting my income consistently I would have used that as an excuse for my inability to save the way I wanted , but it is not the case here because my monthly income was consistent , i think I was not disciplined enough to stick to my savings plan , though some emergencies also came up this year but they did not take so much money from me and should not stop me from achieving my savings goals..
Well this year is literarily gone already , we have just less than 23 days to end the year , so what is the way forward ??
The way forward is for me to work on my financial discipline , work on myself and ensure that I do not allow myself to get distracted from my savings goals , and then make sure that I set a new savings plans for 2023 and ensure that I stick to the plans and avoid any form of financial distractions or any kind of distractions that might hinder me from achieving my goals..
