Untamed Cards out of Monder Format after Rebellion Release: Considerations + My Possible Strategies
The Rebellion Presale is underway and will end in about 22 days unless all 500K Rebellion packs available for purchase during the presale are sold before 22 days.
The Rebellion presale is a success so far because more than 55% of the available packs have been sold in less than 8 days and there are still 22 days available.
In today's post I want to share some thoughts on the effect the release of the Rebellion set will have on my gaming and investment strategies.
There are two formats on Splinterlands:
- Wild Format
- Modern Format
In ranked battles of the Wild Format all cards of all editions can be used:
- Alpha
- Beta
- Untamed
- Dice
- Chaos Legion
- Riftwatchers
In ranked battles in the Modern Format only cards from the Untamed, Dice, Chaos Legion and Riftwachers sets can be used.
Starting December 5, 2023 only cards of the Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and Rebellion sets may be used in the Modern Format.
In less than 40 days the Untamed cards will come out of the Modern Format.
I really like this rotation mechanism because new players have the opportunity to make a smaller investment to bridge the gap with players who entered the game many years earlier and have very strong collections but there is one problem in my opinion...
In my opinion the usefulness of this rotation mechanism is total in theory but is drastically reduced in practice because there is one element that differentiates the two formats a lot from the point of view of play and fun: the bots and the battle helpers.
In the Modern Format bots and battle helpers are prohibited!
**In the Wild Format bots and battle helpers are allowed!
The Modern Format is the realm of Splinterlands lovers i.e. players who like to spend their time playing against other real players and enjoy the game.
The Wild Format is the kingdom of bot-farms who only care about earning rewards from an NFT-based strategy game without playing and selling game rewards to make profit.
In the Wild Format there are also real players who like Splinterlands and enjoy playing but are forced to play against bots because they have card collections with many Alpha and Beta cards.
Some players I know got tired of playing manually against efficient bots in the Wild Format and chose to use a bot or battle helpers as well.
Their choice is logically right but it is a choice of constraint!
The release of the Rebellion edition will produce the first rotation in the Modern Format but will also produce the first discomfort and disadvantage for real players like me.
I am a Splinterlands player since *September 2019 , to date I have played:
- 25554 battles in the Wild Format
- 3081 battles in the Modern Format
I have never used bots because I enjoy playing Splinterlands and only want to play against real players.
My card collection consists of 2192 cards = 20650 BCX:
- 1 Alpha card = 4 BCX
- 195 Beta cards = 2237 BCX
- 685 Untamed cards = 2857 BCX
- 1311 Chaos Legion cards = 15552 BCX
When the anti-bots measures were introduced in the modern format I immediately chose to play only and exclusively in the modern format even though I was disappointed not to be able to use my Beta cards that I really liked and had purchased to use in battles and to increase my win rate.
In the image below you can see a selection of my Beta cards that I used a lot in battle in the Wild Format and are now in the rental market.
On December 5 if I want to continue playing in Modern Format against real players like myself I will not be able to use my Untamed cards unless I choose to return to Wild Format to play against bots and reset my fun (an impossible choice for me).
In the image below you can see a selection of my Untamed cards that I currently use a lot in the Gold+ leagues of the Modern Format and that I will no longer be able to use in this format starting December 5.
I have arrived at the crucial point of this post of mine.
This is an additional anomalous and negative effect of the choice to allow the use of bots in the Wild Format that affects only the real players who are the pillars of every game.
If there were no bots I would play in the Wild Format where there are many usable cards and there are many strategies to choose from = more fun.
But bots kill the fun as well as devalue the assets of Splinterlands.
Without bots I would have long ago taken my Byzantine Kitty to level 4 but did not do so precisely because I knew that with the new set I could no longer use it in Modern Format.
Here I have shown you with a real, practical case (my own) how bots are a real disincentive for real players to buy and upgrade cards when the release of a new set is near.
A real player like me who does not want to play against bots will be able to choose from a narrow range of strategies for Untamed cards when they are no longer usable in the Modern Format:
- sell all Untamed cards to buy cards that can be used in the Modern Format.
- lease all Untamed cards.
- delegate Untamed cards to an alt account and play manually against bots (worst choice in my opinion)
- delegate Untamed cards to an alt account and use a bot.
What will I do?
When I can no longer use Untamed cards in the modern format:
- I will sell all the Untamed cards that were useful in Modern Format but are much less so in Wild Format
- I will not sell Untamed cards that I consider very strong and very useful in battle with the hope that bots will abandon my favorite blockchain game in the short future
- I will not return to play in the Wild Format because I would literally be a fool to play manually against bots and battle helpers who are much more efficient than real players = waste of time with no fun.
I will most likely be forced to delegate my Untamed and Beta cards to an alt account and be forced to use a bot.
Unlike bot-farms I will use the rewards to invest in my Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and Rebellion card collection.
If I will make this choice it will be a choice of constraint and not my choice whereas in a game as beautiful as Splinterlands I should never be faced with this fork in the road.
The set rotation mechanism in Modern Format would be a nice mechanism but only if there were no bots but there are not and in fact the rotation mechanism is a disadvantage for all real players.
In my opinion the Rebellion set should have been released only after the elimination of bots in the Wild Format.
I love Splinterlands and for that reason I hope that bots will be totally eliminated and I will continue, even at the risk of being repetitive, to try to make my readers aware of the negative effects of bots in a game as beautiful and fun as Splinterlands.
I continue to set growth goals on Splinterlands, hope that bots will be eliminated completely from Splinterlands, continue to increase the battle strength of my collection of usable cards in the Modern Format where there are no bots, and look forward with much excitement to the start of the general sale of the Rebellion set, phase 1.5 of lands, and the fully playable versions of Genesis League Soccer and Soulkeep that will expand the Splinterlands ecosystem

Le Carte Untamed fuori dal formato Monder dopo l'uscita di Rebellion: Considerazioni + Le mie possibili strategie

Nel post di oggi voglio condividere alcune considerazioni sull'effetto che avrà il rilascio del set Rebellion sulle mie strategie di gioco e di investimento.
Su Splinterlands ci sono due formati:
- Wild Format
- Modern Format
Nelle ranked battles del Wild Format possono essere utilizzate tutte le carte di tutte le edizioni:
- Alpha
- Beta
- Untamed
- Dice
- Chaos Legion
- Riftwatchers
Nelle ranked battles del Modern Format possono essere utilizzate solo le carte delle edizioni Untamed, Dice, Chaos Legion e Riftwachers.
A partire dal 5 dicembre 2023 nel Modern Format potranno essere utilizzate solo le carte dei set Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers e Rebellion.
Tra meno di 40 giorni le carte Untamed usciranno dal Modern Format.
Questo meccanismo di rotazione mi piace davvero tanto perchè i nuovi giocatori hanno la possibilità di effettuare un investimento più piccolo per colmare il gap con i giocatori che sono entrati nel gioco molti anni prima e hanno collezioni molto forti ma c'è un problema secondo me...
Secondo me l'utilità di questo meccanismo di rotazione è totale nella teoria ma è ridotta drasticamente nella pratica perchè c'è un elemento che differenzia molto i due formati dal punto di vista del gioco e del divertimento: i bots e i battle helpers.
Nel Modern Format sono vietati i bots e i battle helpers!
Nel Wild Format è consentito utilizzare i bots e i battle helpers!
Il Modern Format è il regno degli Splinterlands lovers cioè i giocatori che amano impiegare il loro tempo per giocare contro altri giocatori reali e si divertono a giocare.
Il Wild Format è il regno delle bot-farms a cui interessa solo guadagnare ricompense da un gioco di strategia basato su NFT senza giocare e vendere le ricompense di gioco per fare profitto.
Nel Wild Format ci sono anche giocatori reali che amano Splinterlands e si divertono a giocare ma sono costretti a giocare contro i bots perchè hanno collezioni di carte con molte carte Alpha e Beta.
Alcuni giocatori che conosco si sono stancati di giocare manualmente contro efficienti bots nel Wild Format e hanno scelto di utilizzare anche loro un bot o un battle helpers.
La loro scelta è più che giusta ma è una scelta di costrizione!
Il rilascio dell'edizione Rebellion produrrà la prima rotazione nel Modern Format ma produrrà anche il primo disagio e svantaggio per i giocatori reali come me.
Sono un giocatore di Splinterlands da Settembre 2019, fino ad oggi ho giocato:
- 25554 battaglie nel Wild Format
- 3081 battaglie nel Modern Format
Non ho mai utilizzato bots perchè mi diverto a giocare a Splinterlands e voglio giocare solo contro giocatori reali.
La mia collezione di carte è composta da 2192 carte = 20650 BCX:

- 685 carte Untamed = 2857 BCX

Quando sono state introdotte le misure anti-bots nel modern format ho scelto subito di giocare solo ed esclusivamente nel modern format anche se mi è dispiaciuto non poter utilizzare le mie carte Beta che mi piacevano molto e che avevo acquistato per utilizzarle nelle battaglie e per aumentare il mio win rate.
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere una selezione delle mie carte Beta che usavo molto in battaglia nel Wild Format e che oggi sono nel mercato del noleggio.
Il 5 dicembre se voglio continuare a giocare nel Modern Format contro giocatori reali come me non potrò utilizzare le mie carte Untamed a meno che non sceglierò di tornare nel Wild Format a giocare contro i bots e azzerare il mio divertimento (scelta impossibile per me).
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere una selezione delle mie carte Untamed che attualmente uso molto nelle leghe Gold+ del Modern Format e che non potrò più usare in questo formato a partire dal 5 dicembre.
Questo è un ulteriore effetto anomalo e negativo della scelta di consentire l'utilizzo dei bots nel Wild Format che colpisce solamente i giocatori reali che sono i pilastri di ogni gioco.
Se non ci fossero i bots io giocherei nel Wild Format dove le carte utilizzabili sono molte e sono molte le strategie tra cui scegliere = più divertimento.
Ma i bots uccidono il divertimento oltre a svalutare gli assets di Splinterlands.
Senza bots avrei portato già da molto tempo la mia Byzantine Kitty al livello 4 ma non l'ho fatto proprio perchè sapevo che con il nuovo set non avrei più potuto utilizzarla nel Modern Format.
Ecco ti ho dimostrato con un caso reale e pratico (il mio) come i bots sono un reale disincentivo per i giocatori reali ad acquistare e potenziare le carte quando il rilascio di un nuovo set è prossimo.
Un giocatore reale come me che non vuole giocare contro i bots potrà scegliere tra un ventaglio ristretto di strategie per le carte Untamed quando non saranno più utilizzabili nel Modern Format:
- vendere tutte le carte Untamed per acquistare carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format
- mettere in noleggio tutte le carte Untamed
- delegare le carte Untamed ad un alt account e giocare manualmente contro i bots (scelta peggiore secondo me)
- delegare le carte Untamed ad un alt account e utilizzare un bot
Cosa faro io?
Quando non potrò più utilizzare le carte Untamed nel modern format:
- venderò tutte le carte Untamed che nel Modern Format erano utili ma lo sono molto meno nel Wild Format
- non venderò le carte Untamed che considero molto forti e molto utili in battaglia con la speranza che i bots abbandonino in un breve futuro il mio gioco blockchain preferito
- non tornerò a giocare nel Wild Format perchè sarei letteralmente un pazzo a giocare manualmente contro bots e battle helpers che sono molto più efficienti dei giocatori reali = spreco di tempo senza nessun divertimento.
Con molta probabilità sarò costretto a delegare le mie carte Untamed e Beta ad un alt account e sarò costretto ad utilizzare un bot.
A differenza delle bot-farms utilizzerò le ricompense per investire nella mia collezione di carte Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers e Rebellion.
Se farò questa scelta sarà una scelta di costrizione e non una mia scelta mentre in un gioco bello come Splinterlands
Il meccanismo di rotazione dei set nel Modern Format sarebbe un bel meccanismo ma solo se non ci fossero i bots ma non è così e di fatto il meccanismo di rotazione è uno svantaggio per tutti i giocatori reali.
Secondo me il set Rebellion doveva essere rilasciato solo dopo l'eliminazione dei bots nel Wild Format.
Amo Splinterlands e per questo motivo spero che i bots vengano totalmente eliminati e continerò, anche a costo di essere ripetitivo, a cercare di sensibilizzare i miei lettori sugli effetti negativi dei bots in un gioco bello e divertente come Splinterlands.
Io continuo a pormi obiettivi di crescita su Splinterlands, spero che i bots siano eliminati completamente da Splinterlands, continuo ad aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte utilizzabile nel Modern Format dove non ci sono i bots e aspetto con molta eccitazione l'inizio della general sale del set Rebellion, la fase 1.5 delle lands e le versioni completamente giocabili di Genesis League Soccer e Soulkeep che espanderanno l'ecosistema di Splinterlands
