Hi guys, a couple of days ago I shared that my Hackernoon contest submission was finally accepted and published which put me in the run for a prize of $1000, I was excited to get the mail, they even made it clear that only 30% of submissions got accepted and it felt like a little boost to my ego, other things that came with the acceptance was sharing my post through the Hackernoon homepage which is nice for PR, Hackernoon is like home to a wide range of tech enthusiasts and developers around the world so you get my excitement.
I read the post like 100 times, lol, and each time it seemed although interesting, I had something to improve, especially for the fact that after the first week after I made that submission, I was able to come up with another interesting post related to that topic of the contest, and there was a part of me that felt it was better, but whatever, I’d already submitted anyway. So while checking around the platform I discovered that I could submit for a contest twice so I tried to but…..
The idea was perfect, two different posts explaining the same concept with entirely different real world cases. If you remember, I first wrote about the August U.S Crypto Tax bill by U.S Lawmaker’s that did not pass because it was technically not feasible and how ZKPs were a potential solution, right? Right…..so the second post I was going to submit was about Thorswaps privacy concerns and how ZKPs can be a potential solution, very interesting post with real world use case, then I linked both of them together, very dramatically lol.
Anyway, anyway, I got to the point of posting and discovered that I had to pay at least $499 to be able to post 3 times. Other packages were above $1000 if you don’t believe me check the image below, or maybe I’m the one missing something but it’s clear isn’t it? If it’s not clear that shouldn’t be one me it’s a UX issue, back to the matter, where I’m from this is a ton of money, I don’t know about you.
I even saw one package for $18k and I get it, I do, Hackernoon is a business or run as one and I have no say in whatever, but for me, I just wanted to be able to enter writing contests, pass some messages, win some money and you know….explore every possible positive impacts it has to offer. But paywalls….paywalls….but then again, maybe it’s just me, because there are actually people who pay it. Yep, you heard that, there are people who pay for these packages upon signing up, what do you call that? Conviction?
Conviction that your content will get pushed to developers around the world and you’d have a chance to grow an audience, expand your reach and all that, conviction that your data will always be yours? Maybe I’m going to far, again maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m just spoilt, being used to how Hive works, where there is the possibility for a anyone to build an empire from zero, not because I’ve heard about it but because I’ve seen it happen myself, maybe I’m used to being with a community I’m actively building with…
…..maybe it’s the conviction that my content will be on the chain for the entire community to see, for ever, and everyone determines what I get for it individually….or the conveniency of creating immediate conversation that can lead to connections and discovery and building of many other super cool stuff. I admit that I may have gotten spoilt for expecting too much, anyway, so to cut the long story short, I couldn’t make the post.
Nevertheless, I’m waiting for the winner’s announcement post, I’m really still hoping I win, like really really really really really really really. $1k will do a lot 😮💨lol So yeah, wish me luck,
I don’t know about you but I just kind of like it on Hive and InLeo, because I don’t know how many people are able to afford to pay over $2k to sign up to a tech site to write, but compared to those who don’t have that such amount of money, we can see which is able to pull in the masses, and with the way the Leo token economy is set up, its bound to flourish, this is part of why I’m building here now, building for the future of everyone.
When people ask why I’m always about Hive and InLeo, it’s because I can see where they can go, for InLeo, the picture of where we are going is vivid, the vision is clear, it’s revolutionary and unique, the flywheel effect is the community, it beats other systems out there that have been tried and tested, that have come and gone, one thing that I really like about the Leo token is the solid price floor that is being built from the users of the premium subscriptions, for a set up like this, combined with less than 30% Leo in circulation, the sky is the limit, literally!
Not to mention that my over $2k subscription fee on Hackernoon does not equally translate to winning a contest, see why Hive and InLeo just fits more into the future?
Let me know what you think in the comments….
Thanks for reading.
