Don't go out for meals, don't buy new clothes unless you really need them and definitely don't buy expensive gifts or anything else that you can't afford.
2) Start Saving Money
It's also important to start saving money as soon as possible. Even if you only save £5 a week, you'll still end up with an extra £520 over the course of a year. That could help you pay off your debts faster, which will save you even more money in the long run.
3) Get A Second Job
If you've got a job already, then why not get a second one? There are plenty of people who work two jobs and manage to live comfortably. So, if you want to reduce your expenses further, you might find that getting another part-time job helps you do exactly that. Just remember that you shouldn't take on too much additional work, otherwise you won't be able to give it your full attention.
4) Pay Off The Smaller Debts First
When you're trying to pay off your debts, it's often best to focus on paying off the smaller ones first. For example, if you owe someone £500, but you only have £100 available, then it makes sense to pay off the smaller debt first. Once you've paid that off, you can use the rest of your money to pay off the larger debt. Of course, you'll still need to keep paying off the other debts, but it's better to get rid of the small debts first so that you can put more towards the bigger ones.
5) Consider Using A Credit Card To Help You Manage Your Money
One way to avoid getting into debt again is to use a credit card to help you manage your finances. By using a credit card, you can make purchases without worrying about whether you can afford them. As long as you make sure that you pay back the money you owe each month, you'll be fine. However, if you miss a payment or you default on the agreement, then you'll be charged interest and you'll end up with more debt.
These tips are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to managing debt on a low income. However, they're certainly a good place to start. You might think that you can't afford to cut down your expenses or to get another job, but you may be surprised at how quickly you can turn your situation around.
