My first novel, Ogox, published in 2016, was about the struggle of artificial intelligence agents to have equal rights with humans. I thought one of the most important political problems of the future would be the rights of artificial intelligence. This idea impacted me so much that I wrote a novel on the subject. I remember doing extensive research to decide in which years the story should take place. According to Ray Kurzweil, by 2029, artificial intelligence will reach a cognitive capacity equal to humans. By the 2030s, it will become more intelligent than humans. In a recent interview, Kurzweil stated that his predictions on the subject are still valid. Most artificial intelligence experts said we should wait for the 2050s for general artificial intelligence—recent developments support Kurzweil's arguments.
Does the widespread application of the last period, Chat GPT, have human-level cognitive capacity? Sergey Ivanov, an applied scientist at Amazon Web Services, applied the intelligence test of the iqtest.com site to ChatGPT. And last month, he announced on Twitter that ChatGPT's IQ score is 83. We know that people's IQ scores average 100, and IQ score has a normal distribution. In light of this information, we conclude that Chat GPT is more brilliant than one-sixth of the people in the world.
What About Feelings And Critical Thinking?
In the next ten years, artificial intelligence will become more intelligent than the average human. How will this affect the job market? In our evaluation of this subject, we need to consider the limited social skills of artificial intelligence agents. Evolutionary psychology shows that emotions are a vital function of social skills. For example, anger is an emotion that protects us from injustice. Love makes altruism and effective cooperation possible. We know that the human brain is better at processing emotions than computers. Computers don't have emotions yet, and that doesn't likely change soon.
In addition, computers still need to be capable of critical thinking. Most people need to improve at this. Artificial intelligence agents may need help in business life. Because in their current state, they can be easily deceived by people.
By the way, ChatGPT is bragging like some of us. He provided me with adequate information about science fiction magazines in Turkey. The journal titles seemed entirely appropriate at first glance. However, all the names in question were fabrications. My Favorite Galaxy (Eng: Galaxy) :)
Energy Consumption
The human brain has many features that fascinate me. One of the great things about our brains is low energy consumption. Computers with human-level cognitive capacity consume tens of times the energy of our brains. The laws of physics do not allow electronic components to go below a specific size. More precisely, the uncertainty that arises in the quantum dimension prevents electronic circuits from shrinking within the framework of the current paradigm. Quantum computers also need to mature more for commercial use. Energy consumption is one of the two major obstacles to replacing the human workforce with artificial intelligence. Another obstacle to artificial intelligence is politics.
Politics
Artificial intelligence agents are yet to be individuals who consume, vote, and pay taxes. As they become more competent, they will likely become the object of a new kind of racism. As I covered in my first novel, Ogox, people will have different political views. Those who benefit from AI agents will want them to be armed with broader rights. Humanism has dominated the world of thought since the renaissance. Today's conservatives and liberals agree that man is the most valuable asset in the universe. Humanism will not easily give way to transhumanism. On the other hand, it will be beneficial for people to cooperate with artificial intelligence agents while performing their jobs.
Human-Machine Collaboration
Deep learning in the field of artificial intelligence became popular in the 2010s. Deep learning has been known since the 1940s, but only then did the data large enough to feed artificial neural networks emerge. The use of GPU instead of CPU was also one of the factors that made the profound learning revolution possible. Thus, algorithms began to successfully perform tasks such as voice and image recognition, language-to-language translation, and text and visual production. In the years following the deep learning revolution, nothing remarkable seemed to happen in artificial intelligence. Until the last months of 2022, applications open to end users, such as Chat GPT and Midjourney, appeared.
Artificial intelligence has become a part of our daily lives these days. As a blogger, I still use Midjourney for image production, Grammarly for editing, and Google Translate for translation when necessary. So, the era of human-machine collaboration has already begun.
Impact On Crypto
Two promising areas of artificial intelligence and crypto information technologies. Developments in the field of artificial intelligence will accelerate the adoption of crypto. On the other hand, crypto adoption will also encourage using AI-based systems. Artificial intelligence systems have been offered to the masses by big technology companies to date. In the future, these systems will be customized according to various areas of expertise. The economies created by artificial intelligence systems will operate on blockchains. Thus, investing in artificial intelligence agents similar to cryptocurrencies will be possible.
Conclusion
Balloons, thought to be formed in the technology sector, have a different quality from traditional ones. Technology evolves exponentially, and even the most far-sighted may need help to grasp the added value that technologies like artificial intelligence and crypto can create.
On the other hand, developments in the field of artificial intelligence lead us to question the meaning of being human again. An exciting future awaits us as investors, employees, and individuals.
