When it comes to Hive, countless things have been said times without numbers. But because many don't pay attention, it needs to be said all over again so it sticks in people's brains that nothing in this world is impossible.
Writing (daily) on Hive is not an outlandish concept
We are only limited by our mentality about learning
While reading one of Ben Carson's books (Think Big) this afternoon, the second chapter which was about his mother’s story was really motivational and showed us that we can do what we set our mind to.
Ben’s mom couldn't read, but she met with a stranger when she was at the hospital(after attempting suicide but was saved by her sister who called the ambulance before the full bottle filled with 24 sleeping pills kicked in) who told her to make an effort to read the Bible even if she can't read. When she didn't get some words the strange lady would help her say the hard words loud and tell her the proper pronunciation and meaning of the words.
Without further ado, the strange lady later gave her a bible and said to her that she hoped she would read it.
Right there she(Ben’s mom) decided that she would learn how to read the bible and that “if anybody can read, she can too”. From that moment, her attitude and mentality changed. She also made it known to her kids that “if anybody else can do it they also can do it better”.
We need to change our attitude towards learning first before we can be receptive to learn
However, doubts are the devil, and comfort is its messenger
Sometimes we just get so comfortable with our old routines that we don't want to accommodate new ones.
I was talking to a friend today at our shop. She’s the Facebook type (you know those people who can't go a day without uploading on Facebook) so I asked her a question about what exactly she’s achieving from staying on Facebook all day staring at cute puppies (that's precisely what she was watching that caught my eye) when she doesn't pet one presently.
To her, my question was only about the pups, but I know it was just a way to get her attention and try to hear her views about something greater and better than Facebooking all day to keep Mark’s purse full.
She replied that she has a dream of owning a pop someday, and she would just like to watch them until that time comes when she's in her home where she's free to own one.
wen puppiesonleo?
Probably soon…
My next question to her was “Can she write about pups”? Her response was she couldn't write about them because she couldn't express herself that much in the English language.
So I let her know she could learn and take English courses on YouTube(which is where she likes to watch local movies) and over time she thanked me later for pushing her past her limits. However, she broke my heart when she said she didn't have time for such activity. Assuming I didn't know this lady I wouldn't have been able to feel sad for her but she's one to patiently watch 2-3 hours plus movies on YouTube without getting tired.
Tbh, it sounds somehow to me, but I bet to many other billions of people on the planet it doesn't, because this is the norm today where many people are not willing to go the extra mile for themselves to learn something new but would use that time on something that offers zero benefits to their lives.
This got me thinking about how many young lads are using the internet to their disadvantage. Because I was once like this lady and I deemed myself dumb because English wasn’t my first language but it was important to learn it while in school. However, that won’t be able to help you grasp the whole concept which I still haven’t but slow and steady I know with more learning and spending more time writing I will get there. And this is because my mentality about learning has changed since I got to Hive.
