The issue is not the internet like many like to say, but instead, the input on it and the voice of control we let those inputs have over us.
Often, what we consume on the internet today, especially on social media, is seen simply as a sheer suggestion for our entertainment.
That is because we never take the time to examine them or seek out their source on our own enough to draw the necessary conclusions.
Whoever can create this input can construct a sense of haste in consumers, subscribers and customers to heed or buy his words, advice or product.
Even if they are true or not
Real or fake. No one will counter his concepts, ideology, and dogmas enough to make everyone see the defects.
There are a lot of flaws and defects in the modern world. Many of us know this, especially if you are in a place like Hive. You know that there are countless corners across the internet world with unlimited branches.
These Corners must be redefined and reshaped by changing the inputs
And we are not even talking about the dark web here.
What is created is what everyone narrowly consumes without facts checking or seeking bases to back what is being consumed.
We unconsciously attract these concepts, ideologies, and terminology that in most circumstances, never bear reasonable radical change or difference in our lives.
One prime example is one that happened in the fitness world(around two to three years back) where an influencer who is a well-known YouTuber preaches about a foolproof product for his gains. (I won’t mention his name or the product) , after gaining enough ground in the online world, many people started listening to him and purchasing his products.
But after some years and with some research done by a few fact-checking creators.
They found out he’s a fucking steroids pusher and most of these gains are gimmicks to prove to subscribers that his new product(hint - a natural product) is the source of his improvements.
I bet millions have bought into his product over the years with the expectation of getting upshots, only to getnothing for their money. When these people all know that to create a fit body you need to lift weights to develop vital muscles, and do so the right way and also at the right place - The Gym.
People prefer to sit behind the screen instead of being on the screen-stage themselves. It's safe to say we all have stage fright. But we’ll never overcome that if we never say fuck it and walk up to the stage.
Writing is a stage and the blank screen/paper is where you have to make your inputs.
It can also be therapeutic if channeled correctly without adding all the BS and fancy feeling of making readers(and viewers)feel too relaxed because you know what you're saying isn't impactful nor will it add anything to their lives.
I like mine to add something. And not only to enlighten readers but also to shield myself from a public perspective and help nourish my own innate creative consumer side.
I consume content from time to time. However, I'm constantly discerning about what I consume on the internet. Especially what isn't about selling me what I don't need but about what I can learn on the internet and explore in the real world.
To me, the internet isn't creating a problem, rather, it's revealing to us all that very few creators, innovators, and founders are controlling and coercing the masses in ways that we’ve never seen before.
For this reason many have the notion that the internet is the devil.
Which is not so. But we like to think so often, just like we consume content, courses, and materials(on the internet)often without contrasting between what and who we should consume.
If the internet is the devil then what about us?
The creators are the ones creating and manipulating the inputs to suit themselves.
However that doesn’t mean that all creators are poised to poison consumer's minds, but the few that do are the ones the algorithm favors because the algo is a system of control itself.
While every of my fears about the fancy and futuristic online world is fearful I’ve never for one second been scared to use it as a tool for making up for what it is I lack in intelligence, knowledge, and expertise. There is a whole lot to gain if you look closely and not only look to consume whatever comes your way.
There are a lot of experts to learn and gain insight from on the internet and what would be the purpose of only being a follower of this message and not becoming a messenger yourself in areas that you think matter to you on a larger scale?
What are your thoughts on how the internet is being viewed today? What is your strategy in using the internet as a tool? Or do you think the internet is trash like many people conclude? I would love to hear your honest thoughts about the internet and the modern world at large.
Until next time
