Hive is a survivor.
I was just thinking about my past six years in the crypto industry and how many great projects i have come across in those years.
Amazing plans and projects that could have changed the world and disrupted industries. None of them made it.
Even on STEEM there were some brilliant ideas that could have been massive. Again, they all died for various reasons. I remember one great idea about an early stage metaverse. I bought advertising space on the vegas strip, times square and piccadilly circus in London. If the project had kept growing the way they had planned I would have had some top tier digital real estate worth a lot of money right now. this is just one of many examples that could have made it big over the first few years.
I can't remember who was building it but they had the site up and running before the hive split.
According to a study by Investopedia, out of the over 1,000 cryptocurrencies that were in existence in January 2018, over 800 had failed by the end of that year. Another study by Coinopsy and Deadcoins, which tracks failed cryptocurrencies, reported that over 2,000 cryptocurrencies have failed since 2013.
A minimum of 80% failure rate with maybe another 5-10% that are close to dead. I've bought a lot of tokens over the years and if i still had them I can guarantee it would be a lot of lost money. Now my focus is a lot more centered. Focused on the tokens that have gone the distance and have some sort of value proposition and development.
The fact that we are here right now and growing is a amazing in itself.
Survival is an important factor for success in the highly volatile and rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies. The cryptocurrency market is highly unpredictable, and many projects have failed due to various factors, including poor execution, lack of adoption, and market volatility. Therefore, it is essential for cryptocurrency projects to survive and stay relevant in the long run to achieve success.
I really think that if we survive long enough as a project and keep building more usability into the eco-system that at some stage people will have to recognize us as a viable choice to build from even just based on the fact that we have such stability and longevity compared to 90% of other projects.
I noticed Presearch are looking for a new eco-system to operate form and while i don't see them choosing to build on hive at some stage age has to count as a positive compared to all of these new and shiny projects that keep failing one after another.
There is no point in building on a chain that won't be here in three years that haven't worked out their bugs yet if you want to last and grow a project.
Price point isn't the key metric of value but looking at 40c hive and I'm not selling at those prices. There was a time when 40c was a great price when the future wasn't so bright. Now we are all looking forward to when Hive hits $5 for the first time.
With longevity comes expectations. The longer that we survive and see what's possible. The more that we come to expect from the eco-system as everything improves.
The price will come with the growth from our apps. The best thing that i would like to see happen next is real development form the big teams.
Tools from blocktrades to let projects cross to the chain and more apps building stand alone projects that will carry their own weight in users. Build for other developers and let them help to grow the next generation of users. The longer that we last, the more attractive we become as a destination.
It's just a big game of last man standing to decide the winners of the crypto wars.
