The Fun Never Stops
A few weeks ago, I posted a two-step calculation you need to do to work out how much HIVE you need to stake to get to the various levels like minnow, dolphin, orca and whale according to the @hivebuzz notifications. So the next step in my fun mind is, how the Dickens do we calculate the same thing for the various Hive-Engine tokens out there?
I had to do a lot of digging to try and find out as I seem to remember reading about it in some far away blog on @minnowsupport but I couldn't find it. Then I remembered a conversation I had with @chekohler a while back and think I managed to find a possible way of doing it.
Glorious Calculations
In my previous post, the two equations needed to work out the HIVE Power for each rank are as follows:
Equation 1: Vest Conversion = Current Vest Amount From Hivebuzz / Current HP From Wallet
Equation 2: Hive Power Needed = Required Vests / Vest Conversion Factor
To recap, vests are like internet bandwidth and make up an accounts ability to interact on HIVE (the more you have, the more you can do here).
But, we need to somehow intermingle these two equations and relate them to Hive-Engine tokens, which requires a couple of additional things - the total supply of the token you're interested in and the total supply of HIVE. This will give you the "Hive-Engine Token Conversion Factor", which you need to work out what your equivalent HIVE Power is.
Let Stake Leo As An Example

The total supply of the token can be found on your Hive-Engine wallet - click the "i" button to bring up this box and look at the "total supply":
The total supply of HIVE can be found on Hive Block Explorer by going down to "virtual supply" (I think this is the total supply):
Therefore our Hive-Engine Token Conversion Factor (at time of writing) is as follows:
You'd then need to divide your own staked token amount by this conversion factor to work out your "equivalent HIVE Power (HPe)"
As of 29th October 2020, the following HIVE Power is needed for each rank from my calculations earlier in the blog:
520.65 HP = Minnow
5,206 HP = Dolphin
52,065 HP = Orca
520,650 HP = Whale
And so, I'm a Leo Dolphin as I have 26,333 HPe - work to do still!

OK, so here's the full step by step process on how to work out the amount of Hive Engine tokens you need to stake to get to the various hivebuzz ranks we've come to know and love.
Step 1 - Calculate Hive-Engine Token Conversion Factor
Step 2 - Calculate Hive Power Equivalent (HPe)
Step 3 - Calculate Hive Power Needed For Each Hivebuzz Rank
Equation 1: Vest Conversion = Current Vest Amount From Hivebuzz / Current HP From Wallet
Equation 2: Hive Power Needed = Required Vests / Vest Conversion Factor
Why Do This?
Well, in my view, these various tokens are going to be the future of any niche community on HIVE and you may want to know how much you need to invest to get to various "levels" with that community's token. Ok, the calculations can probably be made simpler and automated by chucking them in a spreadsheet but this is the simplest way I found and just worked it out via the highly technical "back of a napkin" method!
For me, I'd like to know how to calculate what I will need to spend to get to the various levels of the tokens I'm buying up, otherwise there's just no end goal with it and you'll be forever chasing. I like having a target so I'm gonna go for it!
