What.. blockchain can be hacked too?
Hackers are reportedly sold personal data of more than one million Russians who voted electronically using blockchain technology during the recent constitutional amendment process.
The Russian newspaper Kommersant wrote that over 1.1 million data points were stolen and sold for $1.50 each on online forums.
The online voting is part of a national vote dedicated to the revision of the Russian Constitution, which, among other things, removes the president's two-term limit, allowing Vladimir Putin to remain in power for virtually longer.
The online voting system, based on the open source Bitfury blockchain and built with the help of Kaspersky Lab, was previously reported to have poor data protection.
Isn't blockchain supposed to be secure?
