Askleo: Are you searching/investing for games through IGO (Initial Game offering)?
I was looking for the latest ranking of the Play2Earn games and wondering if there is any popular game launched recently. I was just browsing randomly when I landed on the concept IGO which is an Initial Game Offering created to cater to the Gamefi(A marriage of Games and finance in short.) This look to be one of the latest offering in crypto space for fundraising apart from earlier fund raising methods like ICO (Initial Coin Offering), IEO (Initial Exchange Offering) and IDO (Intial Dex Offering) etc.
What exactly is IGO?
IGO (Initial Game Offerings) are almost similar to its predecessor but one of the major differences is that they are dedicated to the Blockchain/Crypto games. Users and players participating in the IGO will be getting either the Game tokens or Game exclusive NFT/products/mystery boxes that can be used in the game. It also allows the opportunity for early investment in the game for the investor before the public sale of the game will commence. On the other hand, it is one of the crowdfunding methods for the developer to raise money without diluting their equity or giving any partnership in their company. Theoretically, it looks win-win situation for both the developer and investors.
Currently, there are so many IGO launchpads in which you can find the "to be released" games raising funds. I am listing a few of them below.
Are IGO profitable?
I looked at 1 or 2 IGO that are launched some 6 months back and I saw that their token prices are now just 50% of their IGO launchpad value, so it looks like there is a fair chance that you still lose money even putting money in IGO. But I am not sure if investors got some other benefits apart from tokens in-game launch so that might be in profit even after the token price deprecates.
Are IGO safe?
Even though are listed in Launchpad, they still it cannot be taken as fully safe to invest in my opinion because there are many factors from malicious intentions to not able to deliver the product in accordance to expectations that can cause your investment to be drained. I hope these launch pads are at least doing the due diligence on the project before allowing their platform to be used for the IGO.
So do you have experience participating in IGO?
I have just learned about IGO and maybe in the future I might try IGO in future to gain some kind of experience but I like to know if someone already has IGO experience or if this term is still new to you.
I will like to know your views that what you think of IGO. Do you view any shortcomings in this process or does it really look great way to crowdfund?
Had you already participated in any kind of IGO and made some profit or discovered some ultra-fun game to play?
Hope you have liked it and feel free to share your views.
