I saw this tweet by Bluemove three days ago and I felt really sad for BlueMove, because it’s an NFT market place that was supposed to support Aptos, SUI and SEI. Aptos was quite great with its launch because of its airdrop, their airdrop act attracted more people to their chain, it made their community and they became loyal to the chain. SUI decided to try something new by giving a special presale to about 30% of their discord members. This sparked the community and they decided to neglect SUI just as SUI neglected them. We watched SUI projects and the value of SUI tank afterwards, this was sad to see. There was only one chain expected to not follow the SUI footstep because they have a large community and that community was SEI.
I had done the testnet and I know how really tasking it was. This made me quite enthusiastic about the reward, so I was really optimistic. Unfortunately the chain launched and they delayed the airdrop distribution. This was the moment the community started losing interest in the chain. In the SEI foundation blog, it was stated that the airdrop will be gas fees. Sadly the community felt neglected because they didn’t just spend more than 10 months of their time only to receive gas fees worth of coins. This made them lose their interest in the chain and didn’t bother investing in the project.
There have been low trading in SEI system, the token price has been tanking and sadly, BlueMove had to delist NFTs on SEI chain due to low trading volume. This speaks a huge volume, communities are very important. But what if the project doesn’t have enough funds to please the community, what do they do? We have seen past events of projects announcing no airdrop but surprise the community and distribute airdrop, which made the community happy because they were pessimistic. We have seen projects with less tasking activities distribute low valued airdrops to their communities, which was fair because they were low tasking activities. But SEI gave the community lots of high tasking activities only to distribute gas fee airdrop, you get where the community frustration is coming from right? Do you think the community is over demanding with high valued airdrop or not especially when they worked so hard testing the chain? What do you think?
