The HIVE Blockchains native currencies have been experiencing some gains and dips the past few days. The HIVE currency is currently at $0.56 with a 24 hour high of $0.58. Just a day or two ago the HIVE USD Price reached a high of $0.67. HBD (Hive Backed Dollars) has also seen a nice bump in USD value. The recent 24 hour high for HBD hit $1.22 however the price currently stands at $1.06. Considering HBD is designed to float close to or stay at $1.00 USD there is potential for some decent size gains here. Personally I didn't manage to hit the peak trade opportunities but that doesn't mean I sat on my behind and did nothing. I did manage to do some quick HIVE>HBD trades using the internal market located in the wallet section of everyone's HIVE profile. Hours ago when I noticed the price of HIVE dipped from my trading point and HBD was on the rise I traded my newly acquired HBD back to HIVE to gain a little over 100 HIVE in profits. I also quickly swapped my remaining 100 HBD for HIVE once I noticed the HBD price was way above its usual price of $1.00 USD. There is still time, as I noted HBD current USD price is at $1.06, that is 6% higher then it usually is. HIVE is also still up 10%+ from its starting point of just under $0.50 (the price HIVE was at just before this recent price hike). Trading HIVE is a little more risky as its not a pegged token. Some gains can be made here for those who are in the trading business.
Recent Hard Fork
The Hive Blockchain is no stranger to hard forks. For those reading who might not know what a hard fork is, its basically the HIVE blockchain getting updates and/or changes to its main functions. Below I will list some of the changes Hard Fork 26 will bring to the Hive Blockchain. Hard Fork 26 is scheduled to take place on the date of October 11.
- The separation of Hive Power and Resource Credits
Currently our Resource Credits is strictly linked to our Hive Power. After the current hard fork takes place that will no longer be the case. The only way to currently loan/give or delegate resource credits is to delegate HIVE Power. With this change we will be able to delegate Resource Credits without needing to also delegate our HIVE Power.
- Dust Votes Won't Get Nulled
Some might not know this but currently any comment or post that doesn't reach at least $0.02 USD doesn't get paid out. Hard Fork 26 will make it so dust payments get paid out.
- No More Penalty for Vote Adjustment
Have you ever given out a vote and then realized you wanted to adjust it to a higher or lower vote percentage? Currently the blockchain gives a penalty for such activity (burns a portion of your curation rewards). Once the new hard fork has completed that will no longer be the case. No more penalties for vote adjustments.
- Time Restricted Votes Are No More
We all seen it, the dreaded notification that tells us we can vote just once every three seconds. This notification will soon be a thing of the past as the upcoming hard fork will do away with such a feature. That is right, no time limit on votes.
- Keys Change Restrictions
Currently we are allowed to change our keys once every hour. This will be updated to allowing users to change their keys twice within one hour.
- HBD Haircut From 10% To 30%
Currently the HBD Haircut is at 10%. This will be changing to 30%. For a better understanding on what the Haircut rule is and how it is applied visit the following post: @dalz/the-haircut-rule-the-biggest-risk-for-the-hbd-price-or-historical-data-on-hive-debt-and-hbd-price. Reminder: Hard Fork 26 Start Date: October 11, 2022 at 12:00 GMT (Lets do this!).
