Depois de comprar o Twitter por U$44 Bilhões, Musk já começou com grandes mudanças. A primeira delas foi demitir pessoas de cargos importante da empresa e mais alguns outras pessoas, mantendo só o core do time que faria a plataforma continuar funcionando. Isso permitiu uma grande redução na folha de pagamento e liberou um pouco da empresa de funcionários que não adicionavam para o crescimento da companhia.

Um dos grandes motivos de sua compra é a luta pela Liberdade de Expressão que está na constituição de diversos países, mas parece que muitos esqueceram. Perto do momento da compra Elon Musk fez um twitter com a frase "the bird is freed", que pode ser interpretado como, não está mais sendo controlado pelos políticos e pelos anunciantes, agora o objetivo é agradar o público.
