I have read how Hive users and community members successfully achieved their annual goal on hive. Good for them and kudos for all the hard you have done to achieve your goals.
On the other hand, I am still active on Hive but with spectacular failure in achieving my goals. I know we still have 14 more days left in 2022. I don't think that will be enough to achieve what I had in mind last December. How things can turn in a span of 365 days.
I know by the fact that readers will not know what my targets were. So, here you go.
1 BTC
10K Hive
20K Leo
They all sound pretty daunting and yet achievable targets. Last year this time around I was pretty confident that things will go my way and I will be able to execute the plan as I laid out. Well, that did not happen.
1 BTC
I am well short of this target. I still have the amount I accumulated in 2021. There was not even a single penny that went into BTC this year. It’s a big RED failure.
10K Hive
Here is another big RED failure. I went from 2.2K HP to 2.7K HP in a year. That is not acceptable. I am still 7.3K short of my target.
20K Leo
This was the target I seriously thought I would achieve this year. This also did not happen and I am 7.7K short of my target with Leo.
Let’s analyse. How come I did not achieve any of my Hive goals in 2022? There are three main reasons I can note.
Increased interest rate - Big $$$ in mortgage
This has to be that one catalyst that threw my plans out of the window. The interest rate hikes that started earlier in 2022 changed the economic narrative. The rate hikes continually increase the variable mortgage payment of my house that I bought back in 2021. The rate creeped from 1.5 in February to 5.5 in December.
In the grand scheme of things the rate increase is still on the lower side for my mortgage compared to others. But, I never thought that I will be paying 80% more in mortgage payments in a span of 10 months. This increased payment dented my ability to invest. The source of my investment was gone and I could not follow through my goals. No chance I would be able to generate extra income to make that planned investment whole.
Deviation from the original plan - UST Debacle
The year 2022 started with a new adventure for me. I found Anchor protocol and that was the end of everything. Like every other crypto investor, I also fell into the trap of 20% interest that Anchor protocol had on UST. I invested my income that was supposed to drip into the Hive ecosystem to Cosmos ecosystem. I diversified my portfolio to make it less risky. Who knew that I was falling into one of the biggest scams of all times. Fuck Do Kwon and all the scammers.
The protocol took my 8K UST. I will never trust any other centralised project ever again.
Inconsistency- I could not be active on Hive
The UST debacle dampened my spirits. Rather than sharing my feelings on Hive I decided to hibernate. I could not take the hit. That was the first meaningful loss I had in the crypto space and stock. The pressure was too intense and I did not manage well. Looking back, I know I should have remained active on Hive and reap the author and curation rewards. It is what is.
I was in and out for six months. No posts and engagements thanks to the UST scam. I am still not whole but I am trying to get back in the blogging ecosystem.
What's next?
I will continue with my 2022 goals into 2023. I will not be overconfident that I will achieve them all.
Two things that I will make sure I do:
Be consistent in engaging
@leofinance is coming up with a new Threads UI. I am hoping that’s the best way to stay engaged in the ecosystem. Even if I am not into writing long form content, I will make sure that I ace the short form content
Become a BTC maxi
Now I understand why people do not trust crypto projects other than BTC. Terra Luna, FTX and maybe Binance (?) that are run like a champion pro systems crumbled/could crumble in days. If that is what I am investing my resources on I would rather trust the oldest one that is still out there. I am BTC maxi to the point where I want to build my BTC portfolio first using other assets and projects.
I will review my goals every month going forward to make sure I am following a right path.
Good day everyone.
