I Paid $29.38 for the First Chaos Legion Pack on the Market! Yippee

Wow, what a NIGHT! Did anyone stay up for the exciting event? I did! If you had any SPS staked, you received vouchers based upon that number. The voucher drop occurred thirty minutes prior to the Chaos Legion presale so that you could buy the packs as soon as they hit the market. Which, let's take a moment please to thank @cryptomancer and the team at Splinterlands who made sure it all went off without a hitch! YAY! Fantastic job!

Now, pull up a chair and let me give you the play by play here. It's a story I hope to tell my children and then maybe grandchildren that I got the first pack! (Okay.. let me confess, it was the first pack on the Hive MARKET, but STILL!! Let me walk you through what I did, and I have the screen shots to prove it!)

How I Got the First Chaos Legion Pack on the Market

The market price of Hive at the time of my purchase is shown in this picture:

When the voucher drop occurred, I only got a QUARTER of a voucher. Now, that's partly because I've been hedging my bets as to where to put my money. I had a lot of my SPS in the liquidity pool, because I'm not going to be able to get enough vouchers from the airdrop for the presale rewards, so I've been sort of hesitating on what to do. Therefore, I got a quarter of a voucher. I headed over to the Hive Engine and I could see that vouchers were selling for 33 HIVE! Like that's CRAZY! Now, that was the Sell OFFER, but someone was willing to Buy at 30 Hive, so shoot... I went for it!! I got over 7 Hive from that voucher sale and then I did a little Irish jig (yes, a wild Irish Rose I AM! I mean they don't call me Splinterlassie for nothing, now do they?) and I waited for the Chaos to UNLEASSSSSHHHHH! YIPPEE!!

I twirled around, I checked the market and WHAM! The card packs were posted! The top pack was listed for 39 Hive! Well, that meant I would pay just under $30 for the FIRST Chaos Legion pack listed on the market!

I quickly entered my buy CHAOS price and Yipppeee!!! I purchased the pack!

You can see from the circled areas below that I have the BUY order in the corner indicating that I just purchased the pack and the Trade History only shows my purchase! Yippee! I was the first!

So Why Again Did I do This?

Well, selling the voucher for as much as I did meant that I really got the Chaos Legion pack for EVEN LESS if you think about it! I'd say I did a pretty good job for myself, and this way I'm guaranteed a pack now. I will make SPS and (which, in turn, increases my vouchers) off that pack. The SPS will be made for at LEAST a month, probably more because @aggroed mentioned we aren't sure we will be able to open the packs as soon as the presale is done. So, I will enjoy SPS air drops from that pack, which will help pay back on the pack. I will also get money from the cards inside if I sell them, or certainly I will have some value in those cards, so that's wonderful as well!

I also wanted to buy the pack, because I would blog about it to show you all IT IS POSSIBLE, EVEN A FAIRLY NEW PLAYER LIKE ME, to buy packs right now, EVEN WITHOUT VOUCHERS! It's exciting to know that I will also have a pack for my SPS airdrop now! YIPPEE!! MORE WINS FOR ME! And it can be more wins for you as well!!

Now, I'm not sure it's an amazing deal to buy the pack for that kind of money at this time, right, when I could get it for cheaper if I have the vouchers, but gosh, for the price of these vouchers I might just sell the vouchers and go buy myself more packs on the market when the price goes down! LIKE WOW the voucher value is INSANE! I mean, they don't call this CHAOS for nothing, right? And LOOK I was the first, but I didn't pay the most!! HEE HEE! Someone paid 48 HIVE for a pack!

And now the packs have come down in price as you can see and are going more for around that 25 HIVE mark, but the price of vouchers is still going strong and I get the chance to say I was the first to buy on the market so to me, the higher price was worth it!!

But what's best for YOU to do?

Now remember, I'm not giving financial advice but surely the prices for these things will drop all the way around. You can keep staking that SPS and get yourself more voucher drops. I know I will be staking more and I'm hoping to make some great money off those vouchers! I also want more packs though, soooooo if you're like me and want both, well just play with the market a bit and see what's best. I feel like it could change on a daily basis.

As for why I bought that first pack, well as I said, I just had to go for it. Being part of the "Chaos" was just too tempting not to buy, and now I can say I was the first to get it on the market! And who knows? Maybe it will have an AMAZING card inside! The question will be: should I open it when we get the chance or hold onto it as a "good luck charm" or something? HA HA! I don't think the gambling girl in me can resist opening it!
