Last night I saw a couple of videos about Asteroid Protocol and their new service which offers free CFT-20 minting on Cosmos Hub Blockchain on Cosmos ecosystem.
They have been working on two new services, token creation, and inscriptions as Bitcoin did with Ordinals just one year ago. The main thing with inscriptions compared with NFTs is that the former ones are on-chain, while NFTs are hosted somewhere else, usually IPFS.
Astroport new service lets you create CFT-20 tokens and inscriptions for free, you only pay the transaction cost which is peanuts right now, and you can have your token or NFT on Cosmos Hub.
The craziness started with token minting, they launched their first token called ROIDS, and it is all sold out by now.
The tool lets you upload an image, define the max supply and the amount issued when someone mints, and then it appears on the list for anyone to mint some until they reach 100% minted. There is already a market you can use to buy and sell, but the front end is not available yet.
I decided to test minting Cosmos Cartel token and got 1000 for the cost of the transaction which is less than $0.01 on ATOM, the native currency of Cosmos Hub. As you can see, a value appears next to it so that represents the actual value of the 1000 tokens, but again it may be just testing as the market is not active
I am curious about the inscription market once it starts getting traction. Bitcoin ordinals have been a huge surprise this past 2023 and I wonder if Cosmos, with all the hype, is starting to have with big players as Celestia or Injection, will become as popular.
You can play around with the tool in this link but you will need a cosmos walled such as Keplr or Leap and a tiny amount of Atom to mint.
