A couple of weeks ago I discovered Blocto, a fully-compatible Account Abstraction ERC-4437 multichain wallet that has implemented several interesting features.
For those who are not familiar with Account Abstraction, it is a protocol released a few months ago that allows the creation of smart contract wallets out of a master wallet. This makes onboarding way much easier for newbies as you do not need to go through the hassle of copying your seed phrase and, most importantly, never lose it. The protocol allows onboarding with an email or social account and also has easy password recovery which is what the market is used to dealing with in web2 services.
ERC-4437 also makes it possible to subsidize transactions, so the master address can pay for the cost and avoid the users having to own small amounts of native currency to deal with that, which to me is a HUGE barrier for newbies on "non-free" chains. But Blocto has even gone further creating what they call Blocto Points. It is an internal "currency" you can use to pay for transactions no matter which blockchain are you using. Those dealing with several chains know how annoying it is to have to own small amounts of different native cryptocurrencies to be able to transact. Now you can pay all those different chain transactions with Blocto points and forget about exchanging or swapping to own every native currency you need to deal with.
Purchasing currency to transact, on top of being expensive is a big hurdle as you generally need to get a minimum amount when dealing with credit card providers. Plus, if you are a newbie, it is not easy with all those new addresses and blockchains. Blocto offers free 1000 points on new App users so you have enough to pay for several transactions. They also have an internal Point purchasing service you can easily use to recharge your points when you run out of them. You can also pay your transactions with native cryptocurrency if you wish but I believe, introducing these features makes it tremendously easy for new users to jump in.
The app has an internal browser to join any online web app and automatically log in and show your NFTs owned, making it also very easy to transfer them. Who wants to deal with Metamask contract address importing to view NFTs now?
All in all, a nice wallet to recommend for new users wishing to interact for the first time with Ethereum-compatible chains.
