The new UI continues to build
The new UI is obviously threads focused and is all set and ready to go! So now the long-from posting experience is being implemented and worked on to round out the other side of the site.
Here is a sneak peek of how the long-form portion of the UI will look:
THE NEW UI OPEN ALPHA LAUNCH DATE IS OFFICIAL
On February 14th the new UI open alpha will be officially launched.
PLEASE NOTE: All the bells and whistles will not be available day 1, they will be rolled out one by one. So things like wallet page and other features will not be available. Not all the feeds will show up either from the jump.
THE GOAL is to test THREADS functionality in week one and then so on and so on each week.

Fast Fast Fast
The leo team's goal is to make things faster than the existing stand alone lightning layer. So to achieve this goal they are building a scenario where there is no separate lightning instance, they are building a lightning layer into the framework of the UI which will be good for speed and less down time.
Will RCs be an issue at some point?
One of many questions from the audience:
Answer was leofinance can handle thousands of users per month being onboarded based on available RCs and the consensus is...we want this to become a problem as that means growth is well above expectations.
Future Finance Ideas
Being able to play options contracts on hive would be quite fun, for instance if you could sell an options contract on a hive pump so you essentially have the opportunity to "sell" hive you have powered up.
Plus, the fees generated from essentially market making an options like market could be a huge revenue source for cub.
Things like these are not on the docket now, but they could begin to pop up sometime in 2023 based on @khaleelkazi comments.
HBD Whale
There has been a whale @lazy-panda gobbling up HBD to put into savings!
Currently this user has about 700K with a goal of 1.2 million and based on his comment below if things go well potentially aiming to triple that holding.
We don't know what the plans are for the HBD earned each month, but even if he dumped monthly earnings this would actually be a win for liquidity as that is still a bottleneck for the system.
Overall Markets (Crypto and Stocks)
The FED did what everyone expected and raised 25 points and had talk that was considered not hawkish anymore.
Apple and Google did disappoint but that didn't seem to phase the market for more than a day. TESLA has been moving up like one of its SpaceX rockets the past several weeks in the meantime.
