So you’re new to cryptocurrency and your excited about investing in Bitcoin. Your really excited about blockchain technology, the fantastic ledger characteristics and the deflationary character of cryptocurrency. But some people are telling you to invest all your money in Bitcoin and others are telling you to invest in Ethereum. Each side is telling you that one is better than the other. And as a newbie or new person to cryptocurrency perhaps your a bit confused and your wondering where to put your hard earned money?
Well I am here to tell you that cryptocurrency isn’t a zero sum game, and you can invest in both. Let me explain…
Zero Sum Game
In any competition there are winners and losers, at least that’s what we have been taught. One person comes in first and the rest, well they didn’t come in first, so they are LOSERS.
In a zero sum game, there is one winner, who walks away with all the prizes, and the other competitors all go home with nothing.
Now in cryptocurrency today, we have something called Communities, which believe in their token’s use case and they believe their token will be widely used and adopted, then its price will go up and they will be rich.
There’s certainly nothing wrong with that aspiration on the surface. But it’s what’s under the surface that’s a problem. You see under the surface, many people in these Communities believe that for their project to succeed, the other projects need to fail. Even projects with completely different use cases.
And I am here to explain, that not only is it wrong, it’s a bit silly.
The Universe of Investment
In the Universe of investment there are thousands, if not millions of companies, funds, ETF’s or derivatives you can invest in. And if you look at the total amount of money in the Universe of Investment it is in the Trillions, if not Zillions of dollars. Yet they all co-exits and there are thousands of stocks which go up each year, and pay their investors in dividends, appreciation or both. You see, in the Universe of Investments, there are many winners, because there is enough investment cash to be invested in many, many stocks, bonds, and derivatives.
If we look at the cryptocurrency investment universe, we see a very small amount of money, compared to the larger Universe of investment. But in fact, the cryptocurrency universe is really just a galaxy, in the investment universe, just like stocks are a galaxy, bonds are a galaxy and derivatives are a galaxy. All these investment galaxies are in the same universe.
So when we understand this, and we also understand that in galaxies much bigger than ours there are thousands of winners each year. We then can understand why there can be hundreds and possibly thousands of winners in our galaxy each year.
The reality is, that the cryptocurrency galaxy is big enough for many of the communities to be winners. So what we should all be doing is promoting investment in our galaxy, because the more we do that, the more we all benefit.
Last words.
When the astronauts went to the Moon, they looked through their window back at the earth, and they realized they were not Americans, but Humans, the inhabitants of the earth, and they stopped thinking n terms of how their mission was going to benefit their country. But instead of how it was going to benefit mankind. When Neil Armstrong stepped out on the Moon he said: One small step for man, one large step for mankind.
