What is Omni Network?

• A new Layer two project on Ethereum.
• The term layer two can be explained in Hive Centric terms, and can be exemplified by projects like Hive-Engine here on Hive, we call it a side chain, to describe it being purpose built to function both independently and dependently on Hive. In our case deriving finality, recording and security from the Hive main chain. But in the main chain for omni network is the ethereum blockchain.

What is the purpose of the Omni Network?

• At the heart of Omni's mission is the enablement of seamless interoperability between different blockchain networks, particularly focusing on rollup technologies.source

• The Omni network webpage says it unifies Ethereum’s fragmented layer 2 ecosystem by establishing a low latency and high throughput global messaging network for all rollups. source

What makes it different from the other second layer solutions on ethereum?

• Omni Network is focused on Roll-up Interoperability.

What are roll-ups?

• Simply and briefly stated, Roll-ups are side chains of ethereum which conduct transactions, at costs cheaper then ethereum and faster then ethereum, and the record these transactions on ethereum, thus ethereum provides recording and security to the side chain.

What is Rollup Interoperability?

Rollup interoperability refers to the ability of different rollup solutions, such as Optimistic Rollups and ZK-Rollups, to interact and exchange data. source

Omni chain attempts to distinguish or differentiate itself from other side chains, by providing these services which may be singularly pre-existent or partially replicated by other sidechains on ethereum.

Cross-chain Transactions: Users can perform transactions across different blockchain networks, enhancing liquidity and accessibility. source

• So that is the short, simplistic description of this multi-year project on ethereum, one of many attemtps to fix ethereums chief problems; cost of transactions and speed of transactions.
