Differing Point of view? Or vision and purpose.
As I read the different views on the Metaverse I see interesting divergence in description, structure and purpose.
First, the experience or escape from reality versus the real escape to a new reality
A fantasy escape from reality
It seems to me that organizations like Facebook wants to create an experience like Disneyland as the Metaverse.
You will need those Virtual Reality VR Googles
They will create an amazing visual experience.
It will seemingly be a fantasy like escape from reality.
A real escape from current reality to a new reality.
I think cryptocurrency people see the Metaverse as a real place, which allows you to escape your current reality of financial dependence and financial insecurity. You escape to a place of financial independence and financial security.
Second, The decentralized cryptocurrency metaverse versus the centralized metaverse experience.
A Facebook Metaverse would be a centralized Clone of Facebook.
I think the Facebook Metaverse will be a clone of Facebook with user accounts Facebook owns, user content Facebook owns, a platform the Facebook owns, and an economy built to further enrich Facebook.
I truthfully feel this model made Facebook billions of dollars and from their perspective there’s no reason to change it.
The cryptocurrency blockchain person sees the Metaverse as decentralized new construct of code and content.
I think cryptocurrency fans see a Metaverse where users own their accounts, own their content, own their platform.
And this is built to enrich the individual who owns an account, content, platform and earnings.
Third, these things can coexist, but don’t confuse them with each other.
I love great entertainment just as much as the next person. And I give Facebook credit for building a wonderful sharing application.
But as a cryptocurrency and open decentralized blockchain fan, I see the new decentralized Metaverse as a tool of used to achieve financial freedom and financial independence. I don’t see it as purely fantasy and entertainment owned by Facebook or Disney or Netflicks.
I think once we think through this thought process and clearly separate these two versions of the Metaverse we know what each is useful for and we can get on with the business of building the truly decentralized Metaverse for our benefit and the benefit of our descendants.
Facebook’s descendants are already taken care of, so let’s focus on ours.
The End . . . for now . . .
