Storj is a decentralized cloud storage service. The files that you upload are automatically encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. Then the encrypted data is split into pieces and distributed to uncorrelated nodes around the world. When you want to retrieve the data only 29 of an object’s pieces are needed to reconstitute that data for download.(can't understand how is this possible).
Here you can learn some more things about Storj.
Anyway lets go to the steps to create an account and upload files. You have a Storage Limit per month: 150GB and Bandwidth Limit per month: 150GB.
---When you sign up it is very important to choose in the upper right corner the geographic region where the majority of the end users of your service who will be interacting with the objects on Storj DCS will be located: US1 / EU1 / AP1
---Then you have two options. We will go with the web browser. The other option is very technical.
---The main concept is that you create buckets and inside you put your files. So we give a name for our bucket. Mine is called bucket-01.
---Then we have to create a passphrase for the bucket. Security is a very important factor.
---That's it. Now we can drag and drop our files.
---Here you can see in the mini map of the world where is my file scattered.
My internet connection is 200Mbps. During the upload the speed was between 15 and 40 Mbps. For something free i think it is more than ok.
That's it for now. I strongly suggest to try it.
