Hello everyone.
This is a bad news to a gamer who is a miner too.
Earlier today Nvidia stated that
"GeForce RTX 3060 is meant for gamers, not crypto miners
Instead, the company is launching a new CMP line for professional cryptocurrency mining."
Nvidia on Thursday said that, they will make sure the upcoming GPU the RTX 3060 series will end up to the hands of gamer. They said that the RTX 3060 will be able to detect Ethereum crypto mining algorithm and thus it will down scale the hash rate to 50% of its performance in mining. This will make sure the GPU will have less efficiency in mining crypto and focus on gaming instead.
Nvidia also quoted:
"We designed GeForce GPUs for gamers, and gamers are clamoring for more,"
wrote Matt Wuebbling, Nvidia's vice president of Global GeForce Marketing, in the blog post.
"Yet Nvidia GPUs are programmable. And users are constantly discovering new applications for them, from weather simulation and gene sequencing to deep learning and robotics. Mining cryptocurrency is one of them."
GPUs which is the most important component in ones rig especially for PC gaming, Video editing, Graphic intense activity such as Photoshop, and more to rendering 3D using 3D software.
But now GPUs stock have been very difficult to find and if you get to find one selling online the price will be two or three times the retail price.
One of the reason is cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum hits its new highs, thus makes mining much more profitable.
But then Nvidia is not going to leave all the cryptocurrency miner out in the cold. The company said that they will launch a new CMP or Cryptocurrency Mining Processor, product line. They stated that this CMP product will be optimize for mining, with new features implemented such as improve of power efficiency and airflow, BUT IT WILL NOT DO GRAPHIC.
"They don't meet the specifications required of a GeForce GPU and, thus, don't impact the availability of GeForce GPUs to gamers," wrote Wuebbling.
Nvidia unveiled the entry level GPU RTX 3060, in January 2021.
Suppose this GPU meant for older generation chips.
