That's very true. Most of the tech that is being developed for this "space race" will eventually be adapted to other applications "back home".
Colonizing space is a plus and something I'd really like to happen because I've been fascinated by it since I was a kid. If I was born in country with a decent space program I'd probably have tried to become an astronaut lol
