HiveStats is an excellent tool for analytics on the Hive blockchain, and it's been recently improved. In this post, we'll look at the latest update of this great tool.
Here in Brazil, we have a saying that roughly translates to something like "In the house of a blacksmith, the tools are made of wood". The way I see it, it describes someone who has mastered a particular skill but doesn't use it for their own favour.
But why am I talking about it on a post about HiveStats? Well, that's precisely the way I feel about myself when it comes to setting goals and using data to keep track of my progress.
You see, I have a full-time job as a Project Manager, and I'm very used to setting goals and using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to keep track of the projects I'm managing. You'd think it would be logical that I took the same approach about my progress on Hive but that's not the case. I've been on the blockchain for about a year now, and so far, I haven't done an excellent job setting goals or keeping track of them, but, hopefully, thanks to HiveStats, these days are over!
HiveStats Overview
HiveStats is a tool created by the excellent team behind LeoFinance and many other great projects on the Hive blockchain.
It's essentially a dashboard of the most relevant data related to your Hive account, and it only takes a few clicks for you to be able to use it. That's one of the things I like the most: you don't need to have any technical skills to handle the data because HiveStats does that for you.
If you want to get started, you can do so right now in just a few seconds. All you have to do is go to the HiveStats page and type in the account you want to check out in the text bar that appears. That will take you to the analytics page.

I have to make a quick pause here and praise the team because now HiveStats has Dark Mode!!! I apologize if I sound over-excited about this, but it's actually a big deal for me. I spend way too much time in front of a computer screen, and having dark mode helps me not be a complete wreck by the end of the day.
But moving on, once you're "in", you'll see a few useful links to other projects and tools on the top of the page and some of the trending posts on LeoFinance right now. That's very cool and handy, but the real goodies are below, so scroll down a bit till you see this:

I really like this card. It shows your current voting power and how much your 100% vote is worth at the moment, and it also has a very cool feature that allows you to drag the voting power bar and see how your vote value changes as your voting power changes and you can also see how long it will take for your voting power to recover from any point that you choose. That's actually something I suggested before, and it's nice to know that the LeoFinance team is considering our feedback! Thanks again, guys!
Next to this card, another one summarizes your rewards and even breaks it down by day of the week. That can be very useful if you want to optimize your rewards and you notice there's a day in particular that your posts get the most attention. Very well thought of!

As you can see, this card also shows you your curation APR. I was thrilled to find out that mine is up to 10%. Even though that may not be optimal, it's a step up from the 8%-ish that it used to be.
One of the things I was really curious to see was the new analytics chart, and I was not disappointed by what I saw.

This is probably where I'll spend most of my time on HiveStats because these charts can give me some quick insight into how I'm progressing and how active I am.
For example, it's easy to see that my Hive Power was stagnant for a long time and only recently did it start growing again. I want to keep that growth up, so I must devise a plan for that.
Another thing that I noticed is that my author rewards oscillated like crazy in the last 30 days. I believe that's a clear sign that my activity has not been consistent lately. Of course, I knew that already, but looking at the actual data and seeing how it can impact my growth has a more significant effect on me and nudges me into action.
There are other tools that can be very useful, such as a summary of all your pending author and curation rewards and a log of your operations on the blockchain, but I won't look at those in detail as I don't think I'll use them that much.
One last thing I'd like to talk about is the card displaying all of our Hive Engine Tokens.

This is probably the best version of a Hive Engine summary I have ever seen. It's elegant looking and organized. It even has a link to Beeswap Liquidity Pools on tokens that have pools, so you can easily spot all the tokens you own that could be pooled.
I have a couple of suggestions for this card:
- It would be nice to sort the list according to other criteria, such as staked or liquid tokens. Right now, it seems to be sorted by USD value, which makes a lot of sense, but sometimes I want to see all the tokens I have staked, and it can be tricky when you have a lot of them.
- I don't know if that's technically viable, but it would be cool if we could perform a few actions such as staking tokens or delegating them straight from HiveStats. If that were a thing, I would probably ditch everything else!
Final thoughts
HiveStats is an excellent tool for anyone looking to grow their accounts or have a basic understanding of some essential data related to their activity on-chain. It's straightforward to use, and it doesn't require any setup time or technical skill. It only takes a few clicks to access and start using it.
Another great work by the LeoFinance team, which keeps showing, again and again, their commitment to the Hive community and their ability to deliver high-end products. Looking forward to seeing what they will come up with next!
