Never have I ever stood in front of a crowd as an adult with reading material to support a speech, though this time I might prepare some notes because the time is so limited and the subject most vital. Why improvise? I need to feel the people and the adrenaline to do my best work. Standing in front of hundreds having only a vague idea of how to start and wrap up the speech...no real previous thought as to what to put in the middle other than a desire to inspire betterment.
I'm telling you guys, you gotta try it at least once. What's the worst that could happen if you freeze on stage? Just say you forgot the oven was on when you left home and take off. You don't owe people any words. If you can't achieve what you came to do, can't deliver at the moment, try again later or move on to the next thing.
You don't need to be good at everything, but right now you guys, I really need to be good at summarizing. Please help if you care and you can.
