It's been a official for some weeks now. A $5 million price tag just to live in the US. That’s what Donald Trump’s Gold Card visa is offering and I'm not surprised to say that they’re selling like crazy today. Howard Lutnick says Trump is moving about 1,000 of these a day, just think about it, a thousand per day.
At that rate, America is probably making $5 billion daily just from this program. That's insane, and if my memory serves me right, some years back Donald Trump said Saudi was making a billion dollars a day from oil, now think about 5 times of that.
Just so you know, this is not the old EB-5 visa where you had to invest in a business that created jobs. There's absolutely no need to prove anything here. All you need to do is to just wire the money and enjoy permanent residency.
A couple of friends of mine discussed this and the conclusion was abuse by rich people, period.
There's no cap on it, no limits, just an open door policy for the very rich people. This is happening while the regular immigrants are being pushed out of America in the name of no proper legal documents. Just think of the contrast in this situation.
Maybe Trump wants to make America a land of only rich people or very native Americans.
Lutnick claims that's there's 37 million people in the world that could afford it. Maybe he’s right. People just love a backup plan, especially in uncertain times as these times.
If you’ve got $5 million to spare after perhaps doing some crazy shit somewhere else, this Gold Card would be the ultimate escape pass.
You don't have to worry about wars, economic collapses or political instability, just hop on a plane and start fresh. Lutnick even joked that if he weren’t American, he’d buy six of them.
Also I'm thinking about the rich Ukrainians that can afford this for their entire family, I'm sure they'll do something like this to guarantee safety from the on going war.
Elon Musk who has started being close to Trump during the election is reportedly building the software for this Gold Card system.
And why wouldn't he do it? Tech billionaires love being involved in anything that smells like an exclusive club. The Gold Card isn’t really about immigration, it's basically a luxury product, you can call it a VIP membership to America. A green card used to be the dream of people outside America. Now, it’s just another high ticket item for sale.
