Hi everyone,
Yesterday it was a big day for me. In the morning I tried to get my hands on the first gen packs from MotoGP and in the evening I was finally able to open my Ben Mauro packs.
MotoGP Ignition | Hit or Miss?
Miss
The team from MotoGP clearly underestimated how fast their first drop of pack would sell out and exactly as I predicted in my previous post (@toocurious/motogp-ignition-or-the-new-nba-topshot), the packs sold out in minutes. I was ready the second the packs went live, but sadly, I was not able to get even one pack, because the system simply would not let me go to the checkout page and when I finally was able to get there, all of the packs were sold out.
So, this kind of felt like a blow to me, I was ready when I needed to be and still did not manage to get a pack.
The silver lining
The good news is that there will be another pack drop on the 9th of April, so I will get another shot at it. Besides that, they are still working on a REVV only drop, meaning you can only pay with REVV for that particular drop and the reason why I bought a bunch at 0.16 cents (read about it here). By the way currently it is trading for 0.56 cents, so can't really complain there and the REVV only drop has not even dropped yet, so I stay quite bullish on REVV, at least till that drop happens.
Did you get any?
Ben Mauro's Evolution | Hit or Miss?
The packs were able to be opened yesterday evening and I was way more excited about this than about the MotoGP drop, because i have been waiting for weeks to be able to open these packs. Read about why I invested in this here.
Another Miss
The main reason for this pack opening feeling like a miss, is that I did not end up with my favourite card HAPPY, or any other of the monkeys, nor did I get a low serial number or the last 'lucky' serial 888. Kind of very average overall I would say.
On top of that are the asking prices on the market quite low and if I would sell them all right now, I would 'only' double my investment (27 Flow) and because of the huge presale demand I had expected it to be way more.
The silver lining
The market is actually not functioning properly at the moment and people are not able to buy any of the cards, so if it opens up again, I might be able to snoop up some of the apes for a very decent price. Also, currently you can only buy with Flow and that's not available yet in the US. As soon as it is, the market will open up quite a bit.
And on discord I heard Ben saying that hodling the cards will offer a reward, maybe in terms of Flow or exclusive NFT's or... He was quite vague about it, but the details about hodling the cards should come out pretty soon.
I am thinking that he might come up with a special reward for people who own all of the commons or the rares or something, so I am aiming to get one of all the commons. I strongly believe in FLOW and Ben, so I think he will make it worth it hodling these cards for a while, which should make the demand go up forcing prices to rise.
Check the viv3 market if you want to get into this (but maybe wait till I can buy my missing commons).
Splinterlands | Hit or Miss?
Hit
Kind of unexpected I noticed that my dec balance had gone up overnight with over 100k dec, apparently I had sold some cards I did not even knew were on the market. I had put them on there quite a long time ago at a high enough price not to worry about them being bought and if they would be bought I would be happy enough with the sale.
I am especially impressed with the dragon archer selling for 37.50 USD, that is not even a goldfoil card and only an epic rarity. The sales have been ramping up lately, alphas and betas are being bought up and also promos, so it seems. In general, an epic card might go for maybe 2-3 usd or even way lower if you look at the untamed editions. This was a promo card from the first Kickstarter campaign I supported a couple of years ago and it is good to know that diamond hands work as well in Splinterlands. Very excited about what is too come for Splinterlands!
I will do a more in depth post about #splinterlands soon.
Did you have any recent unexpected sales?
Other projects I am currently super excited about:
- Doctor Who - a trading blockchain card game
- Splinterlands - fun and fast trading blockchain card game
- NBA Topshot - collectible trading game
- Cubdefi
