I follow you; you follow me.
This has been the concept that got used and abused in social media accounts as everyone tries to increase their presence in cyberspace. I amn't an exemption from that, as I did the same thing back then when I started.
When I get back into blogging again in Hive - around 2020, most of the people that I had followed are not active anymore. Since I do things manually, I had already bookmarked my friend's account link on my PC to make sure that I am not missing anything. It is tedious, yes, I know, but I am already used to it so I did not change it.
Before I share what happened might as well share why I am not hitting the follow button that much.
It is just me, but I have an ick on too many re-blogged posts in which I am not that interested. I feel that my feed is being spammed by unwanted content.
I treat Hive as Facebook, wherein I scroll down everything and find whatever piques my interest. But each time that I feel things I am not into have flooded me, I just block the person on my list. I have a quarterly pruning of friends in my account and remove folks I am not interacting with or I don't have the plan to interact with anymore in the future.
You may feel that this is a main character vibe, but then again, let me remind you, my wall, my rules.
How do I search for a post?
When curating content here in Hive I first check the feed that is provided by the Hiveph bot which is now @kembot. I scan whichever stuff I am interested in and then upvote and comment if I feel I relate to the post. It has been my practice since then, making sure that I missed nothing. Actifit post isn't something that I read that much, so I skip that part.
Once I saw I am up to current, then I check the communities tab in Peakd and see what post gets me interested.
I interact, then comment.
Do I hit the follow button? No, I have not.
The flaws that I encounter
When I use either one thing mentioned above but there are some contents that I think I am missing. We should post blogs created for the right community, but there are times wherein it was not.
If I had spare time, I use tags in curating content but only if I have spare time available.
Am I doing okay with the said strategy?
I think I am...
I am getting notifications I am winning some engagement contests once in a while.
So what's the plan now?
I do plan to increase my following by using the follow button more frequently. Most likely I will use it for people who daily create content or consistently build their accounts here. Since I will not be having issues with Resource credits thanks for increasing my HP from time to time, this will be helpful for me.
By increasing my following, It may help me achieve my goal in commenting at least 5 blogs daily ( new users ). And retain some of the people that I had followed.
How about you? How do you step up your game in engaging with other people?
