Skiff is a free and open source software that implements the novel idea of decentralized Web applications with interaction with the Web3. As we will detail in this post, it allows to have an excellent application for email with exceptional functionalities, a note board that can be shared collaboratively and distributed storage with the fantastic IPFS technology (Interplanetary File System), all this under a high security system for information to be encrypted from end to end.
Skiff es un software libre y de código abierto que implementa la idea novedosa de aplicaciones Web descentralizadas con interacción con la Web3. Tal y como detallaremos en este post permite tener una excelente aplicación para correo electrónico con funcionalidades exepcionales, un tablero de notas que se pueden compartir colaborativamente y almacenamiento distribuido con la fantástica tecnología IPFS (Sistema de Archivo Interplanetario), todo esto bajo un sistema de alta seguridad para la información al estar encriptado de extremo a extremo.

Whenever I find a free and open source software tool, I check it in depth, looking for its operating principles, security standards and others related to my work in the management of IT services. From Skiff I have learned a lot about the use of a true emerging technology, IPFS, joined to everything else of what today is the Web3 and blockchains. Below I detail it.
Siempre que encuentro una herramienta de software libre y código abierto la reviso en profundidad, buscando sus principios de funcionamiento, sus estándares de seguridad y otros relacionados con mi trabajo en el manejo de servicios IT. De Skiff he aprendido mucho sobre el uso de una verdadera tecnología emergente, IPFS, unido a todo lo demás de lo que hoy es la Web3 y las cadenas de bloques. A continuación le detallo.

One of the most transcendent problems of all mail systems is that the mail server stores all the data, handles the passwords and its administrators can access your private information and filter to third parties under a legal demand (or without any legality). Well, in Skiff all your data is encrypted and neither the system itself, server or support group can see the content of your information, that is the meaning of end-to-end encrypted systems. When you create an account, a pair of private and public keys is generated, of the private one an encrypted copy is created with your access password and another encrypted copy with the private key of the Web3 access application such as Metamask. Several access methods can be linked linked to Web wallets 3 of different chains or decentralized domain gestures such as Unstoppable Domain or ENS; each method creates an encrypted copy of the private key and in this way the user is prevented from losing his access, the more methods he registers the more difficult it is to lose the credential.As with the Muun bitcoin wallet, they generate a PDF file that serves as a resource to recover your account. Uno de los problemas más trascendentes de todos los sistemas de correo es que el servidor de correo almacena todos los datos, maneja las contraseñas y sus administradores pueden acceder a su información privada y filtrarla a terceros bajo una demanda legal (o sin ninguna legalidad). Pues bien, en Skiff todos tus datos están encriptados y ni el propio sistema, servidor o grupo de soporte puede ver el contenido de tu información, ese es el significado de los sistemas encriptados de extremo a extremo. Cuando usted se crea una cuenta se genera un par de clave privada y pública, de la privada se crea una copia encriptada con su contraseña de acceso y otra copia encriptada con la llave privada de la aplicación Web3 de acceso como Metamask. Se pueden vincular varios métodos de acceso vinculados a billeteras Web 3 de diferentes cadenas o dominio descentralizado, como Unstoppable Domain o ENS; cada método crea una copia cifrada de la clave privada y de esta manera se evita que el usuario pierda su acceso, cuantos más métodos registre, más difícil será perder la credencial. No se imaginan, la cantidad de veces que vienen clientes a mi oficina que no recuerdan su contraseña, bueno con Skiff para perder el acceso tendrías que olvidar todos los métodos de acceso que registras, esto es una joya en lo que respecta a la experiencia del usuario. One of the features that have caught me the most is the possibility of adding all the aliases that come before me, for example my default email address is my_ethereum_addres@sskiff.com and I have also put all the aliases that seemed prudent to me. This ingenious functionality allows me to customize from which alias I write and to which alias I want the senders to write to me, this is great for Community Managers or for those who want to have several accounts registered from Ecency, but all in the same place: Skiff.
Una de las características que más me ha llamado la atención es la posibilidad de agregar todos los alias que se me presenten, por ejemplo mi dirección de correo electrónico predeterminada es my_ethereum_addres@sskiff.com y también he puesto todos los alias que me han parecido prudentes. In the debate on the characteristics of decentralized Web applications #Web5 Jack Dorsey himself mentioned the need to have a global, distributed and immeasurable storage system, one of the most promising proposals with these characteristics is IPFS (Interplanetary File System), as a succession to what was once Torrens. It is a file system where each node shares its storage space with the entire planet, the files are encrypted and replicated around the globe, only the one with the private keys can write their data and everyone who has their public key read it, the other way around also works, if you encrypt with the public only the one who writes will be able to read it. En el debate sobre las características de las aplicaciones Web descentralizadas #Web5 el propio Jack Dorsey mencionó la necesidad de contar con un sistema de almacenamiento global, distribuido e inconmensurable, una de las propuestas más prometedoras con estas características es IPFS (Sistema de Archivos Interplanetario), como una sucesión de lo que una vez fue Torrens.
