One thing I'll always be out to push blockchain technology and cryptocurrency is towards is realtime utility in our daily lives- education , transportation, agriculture, Oil & Gas and many other sectors. I am seeing this happen in a short while and I'll also do my best to push from my end.
I wish to see people feel the impact of cryptocurrency, the reason that inspired my @HiveAid project that will be grand in the scheme of things when I get to a point of earn sustainably on the Hive blockchain. I want to see @HiveAid make impact in education, agriculture, environmental health, health and other humanitarian impacts.
While surfing the internet to see the possible applciation of cryptocurrency in charity, I stumbled this document by Dash News reporting "UNICEF's Pledge to hold cryptocurrency donations in cryptocurrency.
UNICEF, an acronym for "United Nations Children's Fund" is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. UNICEF has made several impacts in Nigeria. UNICEF receive donations to help save and change children's lives in more than 190 countries around the world.
The captivating part of the UNICEF's story is the fact that UNICEF has started receiving donations in cryptocurrencies through its newly-established UNICEF Cryptocurrency Fund. This statement was made far back in October 9, 2019 in NEW YORK.
UNICEF will now be able to receive, hold and disburse donations of cryptocurrencies ether and bitcoin, through its newly-established UNICEF Cryptocurrency Fund. In a first for United Nations organizations, UNICEF will use cryptocurrencies to fund open source technology benefiting children and young people around the world. - source.
The words of the Executive Director of UNICEF, Henrietta Fore, was quite assuring of their support for cryptocurrencies as she said these:
“This is a new and exciting venture for UNICEF,” ... “If digital economies and currencies have the potential to shape the lives of coming generations, it is important that we explore the opportunities they offer. That’s why the creation of our Cryptocurrency Fund is a significant and welcome step forward in humanitarian and development work."
So far, only a few cryptocurrencies are accepted in the UNICEF fund including Bitcoin, Ethereum (or tokens ERC20), Litecoin, Ripple, DAI, Dash, Monero, EOS,and Stellar.
I wish to make a case for HIVE. It could be cool to see HIVE listed as one the tokens that would be received as UNICEF donations. That means, UNICEF would have to create a HIVE based account. This would be positioning HIVE in the national space as one of the cryptocurrencies used to reach children all over the world.
Where do we start from here?
How I choose to reach-out to Families of the World...
