Last Friday, InfoMoney, through XP, released a very interesting article about how the increase in the Selic rate to 14.75% per year is impacting fixed income returns. They did simulations with R$10,000 in savings accounts, Treasury Direct, CDBs and LCIs/LCAs. I thought it would be a great opportunity for us to not only understand these numbers, but also to bring HIVE and HBD into this conversation. After all, where would our money yield the most?
In the video, I go over the main points of the InfoMoney article. Savings accounts, as always, come in last, even though they are exempt from Income Tax – in 5 years, R$10,000 would become just over R$14,000. The Selic Treasury has already improved significantly, reaching over R$18,500 in the same period, even with B3 rates and regressive IR. CDBs are stuck there, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. And LCIs/LCAs, because they are exempt from income tax, stand out, reaching almost R$19,000 in 5 years, according to XP's calculations that considered a bond paying 90% of the CDI. It is important to note that the article reminds us that these calculations assume a constant Selic rate, which is not always the case, and talks about the importance of considering liquidity, credit risk and FGC coverage.
That's where my analysis comes in: I took this data and created a little table in Excel to include HIVE and HBD in this comparison.
$HBD currently offers a yield of 15% per year on its internal "savings", and this in dollars, unlike those presented by InfoMoney that yield in Reais. With compound interest, this initial R$10,000 in HBD could exceed R$20,000 in 5 years, surpassing all the fixed income options presented. Of course, there are the "cons": the yield is paid monthly, withdrawals take 3 and a half days, and the stability of HBD, although historically good (varying little around $1), is linked to the HIVE ecosystem and its control mechanisms.
And what about $HIVE? Well, the average profitability via curation is around 8% per year (I used my account as a basis), which would put it above savings accounts, but below other fixed income options if we consider only that. However, with HIVE, no one focuses only on that 8%. The great potential lies in the appreciation of the token itself. With HIVE at $0.27 today, a rise to 54 cents (something we have already seen happen) would double the investment, not including the curation interest (if you are willing to wait 13 weeks to withdraw). It is a higher risk investment, with the potential for greater returns, depending on your strategy and market behavior.

Sexta-feira passada o InfoMoney, através da XP, soltou uma matéria superinteressante sobre como a alta da Selic para 14,75% ao ano está impactando os rendimentos da renda fixa. Eles fizeram simulações com R$10.000 em Poupança, Tesouro Direto, CDBs e LCIs/LCAs. Achei que seria uma ótima oportunidade para a gente não só entender esses números, mas também trazer o HIVE e o HBD para essa conversa. Afinal, onde nosso dinheiro renderia mais?
No vídeo, eu repasso os pontos principais da matéria do InfoMoney. A Poupança, como sempre, fica em último, mesmo isenta de Imposto de Renda – em 5 anos, os R$10 mil virariam pouco mais de R$14 mil. O Tesouro Selic já melhora bastante, chegando a mais de R$18.500 no mesmo período, mesmo com as taxas da B3 e o IR regressivo. Os CDBs ficam ali colados, às vezes um pouquinho mais, às vezes um pouquinho menos. E as LCIs/LCAs, por serem isentas de IR, se destacam, podendo bater quase R$19 mil em 5 anos, segundo os cálculos da XP que consideraram um título pagando 90% do CDI. Importante ver que a matéria lembra que esses cálculos assumem uma Selic constante, o que nem sempre acontece, e fala da importância de considerar liquidez, risco de crédito e a cobertura do FGC.
Aí é que entra a minha análise: peguei esses dados e criei uma tabelinha no Excel para incluir o HIVE e o HBD nessa comparação.
O $HBD hoje oferece um rendimento de 15% ao ano na sua "poupança" interna, e isso em dólar, diferente das apresentadas pela InfoMoney que rendem em Real. Com juros compostos, esses R$10 mil iniciais em HBD poderiam ultrapassar os R$20 mil em 5 anos, superando todas as opções de renda fixa apresentadas. Claro, há os "contras": o rendimento é pago mensalmente, o saque leva 3 dias e meio, e a estabilidade do HBD, embora historicamente boa (variando pouco em torno de $1), está ligada ao ecossistema HIVE e seus mecanismos de controle.
E o $HIVE? Bom, a rentabilidade média via curadoria gira em torno de 8% ao ano (usei minha conta como base), o que o deixaria acima da poupança, mas abaixo das outras opções de renda fixa se considerarmos apenas isso. Só que, com o HIVE ninguém foca só nesses 8%. O grande potencial está na valorização do próprio token. Com o HIVE a 0,27$ hoje, uma alta para 54 centavos (algo que já vimos acontecer) dobraria o investimento, fora os juros da curadoria (se você estiver disposto a esperar as 13 semanas para retirada). É um investimento de maior risco, com potencial de maior retorno, dependendo da sua estratégia e do comportamento do mercado.
