It's the last month of the year, again, and everyone's one way or another, on edge. The beginning of the year starts up with hope and belief in our ability to become better within these 12 months and sometimes we do, most times, we just stay the same and only increase in pounds and age.
I took a trip to the market today and I almost got hit by a bus. Everyone's in such a hurry. There's always a target to be met, always something everyone's trying to reach before the year ends.
Most times, I wish people could be a bit more realistic (people including me).
I remember 2 years ago, I set a target to be in a relationship with the man of my dreams before the year ends. I had the vision board and everything. I was ready to scrutinise everything about every guy I meet to check if he's the one I want and if he has even 2 of the qualities I desire, I start thinking forever.
I got so pressured mentally when the year ended and I was still single. I learnt to not put so much pressure on myself after that. I go with the flow and hope for the best.
This year, I believed last Christmas would be my last in Nigeria. I had the perfect plan but yeah, it didn't work out.
The university I applied to didn't find me worthy. I was broke, so applying to another wasn't possible. I put a pause on my plans and decided to work on other things. I've given myself a lot of allowance with my goals and targets. I decided that as long as there's life, there's hope. So I work slowly and steadily.
Right now, everyone's trying to think about something cool to achieve next year. I think it's dope. I think everyone should work intentionally. I feel like if things didn't work out for you this year, there's nothing wrong with going for them again next year. That's the story behind every success, isn't it?
I believe in movement. But I also believe in being realistic. Thanks to crypto, the impossible can happen in the blink of an eye. I've experienced it.
However, not everything works the same way. Hardly anything works the same way. There's so much time, as long as you stay alive, to achieve a lot. No pressure.
