Argh, I feel like such a douchebag trying to get stuff into my head when it doesn't want to stick. I've been studying for the last two weeks on getting the boat theoretics getting to stick in my mind, and I feel medium successfull in the process.
In not that long period of time I have planned an exam for myself and accompanied with that I also gave a deadline for myself for when all the information has to be in there. When I am talking to other people about this they seem to have planned months and years for this, and I only gave myself a couple of weeks to fit it in there.
When it is in, it is in right? Or was that way too easy of a thought if you don't gave that much experience and when you also don't live close to water or grew up with it. All of a sudden the challenge is a lot more there.
And some basic stuff didnt really seem to stick which wasn't really surprising to me honestly. You can't really start from scratch and expect it to hold immediately, but maybe somewhere I did expect this naively.
So I started making doodles of stuff to remember, even if it is just the most basic stuff around. For the one person it works to study endlessly, for the other it works to have visual images as an addition, for the next it works better to hear something.
For me apparently it works to scribble down the essentials. And what even works better is to explain it to an imaginary friend, or to my dog. Rubberducking as they say. Talking to your rubber duck in the bathtub and explain your situation as if it was a person.
So in this image you can see the downstream current and with what kind of signs are in the water. Also on the boat I scribbled the green boat lights on the right side, which feels natural but the signs in the water do not.
A next doodle is totally which side the boat turns to when you are with no current, have a right turning screw and going backward. Going forward this is alle manageble, the back of the boat breaks out to starboard side and the nose of the boat will slightly turn to the left.
Going backward this same kind of half circle, but the connections for some reason are not being made in the brain.
I guess I need to doodle a bit more to get this all on place. Im just working on practise examens and fingers crossed for the best!
