The weather was dry contrary to the forecast, we loaded up all camera gear and set off in the Isuzu our destination Grizedale Forest, we headed out of Silverdale towards Slack head and onto the A6 near Milnthorpe, then headed towards Kendal getting on the A590 towards Grange over Sands before heading up Lindale bypass towards Newby Bridge, it was then a case of meandering around 5 or 6 miles of singletrack roads to find the greenlane.
It was a bit different driving this compared to the Mercedes last week, for a start I had a great view of the road, over hedges etc and it didn't seem that much wider than W124, mind you that is a big car, the thing about driving in the Lakes especially in lockdown is that most people are locals and know how to pass a vehicle on a thin road, even couriers the roads the most you'll see them do is fold the mirrors in then floor it through the gap.
When we arrived we got a couple of pan shots driving onto the Trail and a shot of a horse eating some food and then some supporting shots, signpost looking at the pickup etc.
I got Annabelle to film me as I want pretty quickly up the trail just to get a leading shot I then turned round and headed back down.
Annabelle climbed into the driving seat and I filmed some close-ups, tyres dropping over rocks suspension travel ride height etc.
I then clambered onto the bed and filmed various angles - backward shots, side shots, wheel shots, roof shots.
In future I need to do some research on the types of terrain on these Trails, everything we came across we could do in 4 High, last time we were in the Suzuki Jimny it was far more technical ideally we need something in the middle.
We followed the trail and pulled up and filmed some of the review sections because of the height of the vehicle Annabelle opted to do the interior, as she would have had to lean to see me and get the right angle.
I highlighted some of the features and styling, and the practicality, explaining what it could tow how to operate the tailgate etc we also reviewed a couple of chunks of the review with a brew, then it was lunch which consisted of Ryvita peanut butter, packet crisps and a yoghurt then it was onward.
Time to find our next Trail, similar to the first one but more like a farm track with areas where water had eroded part of the trail, this made it the perfect location for getting some fast drive bys whilst showing the versatility of the pickup, 32 in Pirelli Scorpion tires made light work of this at speed, we took it in turns to drive on certain sections as well as taking turns to film.
The off-roading video should be ready just after the weekend, thank you.
