Here is our long awaited Offroading video it features the ISUZU D Max XTR doing some of the things it's been designed for, bear in mind this is light offroading, no cross axle craziness et we also demonstrate some of the pickups capabilities, highlight some of the features such as you can tow 3 1/2 Tons and carry just over 1.1 tons on the bed.
This model is a Nav plus retails for around £44,000 you can also option up with things like roll bars LED light bar, cabinets - the world is your lobster.
This model does differ quite a bit to the standard D Max, it is a lifestyle pick up meaning it's meant to be as good on road as it is off-road how it is good on a road but it is exceptional off-road, it has a wading depth of 600 mm and the rear axle clearance is 250 mm.
The one thing you're probably questioning is the engine size, granted it's got around 164 PS from a 1.9 turbodiesel engine, but can it cope? judge for yourself - if you want to save yourself some money you can even go for a six speed manual, we have a six speed automatic, the 1.9 is the only engine you can get in the UK however outside we have seen the 3 L, for adventuring you get descent control and 4x4 on the fly with shift lock.
It's trimmed inside with heated big buckety sport seats embossed with XTR emblems and yes there are hard plastics but you expect that in a pickup they needs to be robust.
On the outside you'll notice is a fair bit wider than the standard D Max's but that's because it's got plastic pretty much all over the body and that is to protect the paintwork whilst offroading.
It looks cool and has a purpose too it houses the front lights, rear lights and it's got some pretty immense arches as well and that's not where the protection ends the bottom has embossed XDR plates to protect important parts allowing you to bottom out if need be.
The video demonstrates going up green lanes in the Lake District, nothing too strenuous, mind you it was fun though, we were hoping to find some deep water however that wasn't on the cards, we did find some interesting terrain but nothing that really challenged the D Max.
You can see it can fly along over shale and gravel quite easily well under control and bounce over pretty much anything, if you approach it correctly, especially with its Pirelli Scorpion 32 inch tires quite mad to think it's only got 17 inch wheels.
Watch as we explore get hit in the face with leaves and dodge birds, enjoy.
