I am quite excited to participate in this weekend's prompt by @galenkp which says;
Shoot your cat or dog
Most who own a cat or dog love them greatly, I get it because I love my cat! Shoot a photo of your cat or dog and do a 300+ word post explaining why you love it so much and what it brings to your life. This must be your personal cat or dog and the photos must be your own.
After losing my favorite pet sometime in 2014, I vowed never to get another one, because I missed her so much and didn't want another to replace the memories we shared.
However, after a few years, I visited my cousin whose dog put to bed, and I was immediately attracted to her,(Ruby) the finest puppy, my cousin knew how much I loved dogs, and then she asked if I would love to take Ruby home because I kept talking about how adorable she was.
And from that moment on, Ruby which I named her became a part of my life and it acted like her name. ( A fine precious little thing)
I started bonding with Ruby at the tender age of 3 weeks, she was cute and calm.
As time goes by, She grew into a very beautiful bitch, I taught her how to sit down, shake, and attack, and in fact, I spoke to her like a human.
The reason I love Ruby is her intelligence quotient, she's so intelligent, obedient, and a fast learner.
She understands simple gestures and body language, she's so observant, she knows when I'm sad, you see her all over me trying to cheer me up, she kisses me๐๐๐, put her hands on me and just tries to make me play and before you know it, I'm feeling good again.
Ruby is not just a pet, but someone I could count on, my gee for life! Ruby is my bestie, my comedian๐๐๐, Ruby can be naughty and annoying at times when she chooses to be, and that even make me love her the more๐๐.
I remember one day, I went out without her and then I patted a friend's dog when I got home, she pretended like she didn't see me when I went to meet her, she just stood up and walked away, I guess she must have sniffed another dog's fur on my palm or something, She was so jealous and unhappy, I guess she got scared and she felt insecure. I had to reassure her of my love, I went out straight to the abattoir, bought biscuit bones for her, prepared it, and ensured I fed her myself, that was when she forgave me and became lively again.
Ruby is also humble to a fault, I remember one day too, I forgot my slippers on the veranda and went to sleep, those were my favorite slippers, before I woke up, she had designed the slippers with her teeth, it became a toy for her, I couldn't help but scream at her, I got angry and was about to spank her when she immediately prostrated right in front of me, she took responsibility for her actions and didn't try to run, it was obvious she was sorry for getting me angry.
At that moment, my heart melted and then I spared her.
Ruby is disciplined, she never eats from another plate other than hers, she's someone who doesn't get enticed and I love her for that, while she was growing up I ensured I gave her food with a particular plate and bowl too for water, I've tested her on different occasions dishing her food with a different plate, she already believes that's not for her, she would only bark at me for trying to tempt her๐๐ and then wait for patiently for her plate, if her plate is empty and right beside her, she uses her mouth to bring to me๐๐๐.
Ruby is patient, whenever she sees me coming with her plate of food, she becomes restless and excited, and at that point, I will just hold onto the plate without dropping it down, the next thing I'll tell her is "Sit!", being a naughty dog she wouldn't oblige and then I will leave with my food before you know it, she would sit and then when I come back again if she tries to stand up, I will instruct her to sit again and when she does, I drop the food and still instruct her to sit, that's me testing her patience๐, I know in her mind she will be like " what the heck is wrong with this lady?", but then she sits and makes one funny sound like "hmm, hmm, hmm" she has this funny look like bending her head to one side with her tongue out, waiting patiently for me to instruct her to eat.
Ruby is expressive, she barks for different reasons, either because she needs my attention, to protect me, or to try to tell me something. Somehow I always figure out why she barked.
These are why I love my love; Ruby.
Ruby has taught me responsibility, she has taught me patience, she has also taught me the meaning of love and loyalty, she has also taught me how to be selfless and committed.
Ruby's joy is simply contagious, she content with whatever I give her, and that has taught me to be happy and content too.
What has she brought to my life?
Ruby has brought peace, joy, laughter, and companionship to my life, Ruby is a genuine friend, always looking out for me even though sometimes she barks like a spoilt brat๐๐๐.
More than anything else, she brought comfort to my life and good fortune too.
