-Mark Twain
When I read the themes that @galenkp brought us for this weekend, I said to myself, this is really difficult, choosing the theme. I read them carefully and when I got to the last one I thought, this is mine.
I love the phrases of teachings and even more those that are exposed in a metaphorical way. The interpretation depends on each person, although surely the author referred to something very specific.
The frog can be several things, a problem, a task, a job, or a mixture of all of them.
But I don't think he is referring to a simple task, eating a frog may not be easy, so I relate it more to a difficult, hard or complicated task or job. It could also be one problem among many and this problem could be the most severe, the biggest.
The truth is that these kinds of tasks or problems are best solved as soon as possible. I think that's why the author talks about doing it in the morning, as early as possible.
This is, I think, is my opinion, not only for productivity reasons, but also because the path is lighter when the task or problem is no longer there.
That is why it is vital to get rid of them, first of all. They occupy a very important place in our mind and will not leave us until we solve it. Likewise, if we start with something else, it will be there like a drill, biting our head.
Why delay resolving it, it's better to do it now.
Then the rest of the day will be better, the heavy stuff has to be done first and then that will give us more strength for what is left, more courage. Otherwise the day, or life will become heavy with that little bird pecking at our heads saying: this is to be solved and it is not simple. It will weigh us down even more.
On the other hand, it helps us to be productive with time, first do the ugly things, then leave the beautiful things. Time is better this way, it copes better, whether it is work or problems.
Recently in my home country things happened that destabilised the whole world, overnight there was uncontrolled inflation, I knew it would happen, but not when.
My head knew it, but not the exact moment, and it happened. The first thing was to solve the best possible way to get the least amount of loss. Manage and do it well, with a cool head. But that had to be first of all at the beginning of the day, I couldn't waste time. If I did, I would lose money. It was like a race against the relentless seconds.
Strategy, planning, what to do with the money coming from there and as soon as possible, delaying the issue would mean I could buy less, it was devalued at every instant.
Who runs faster, that was the question.
And I think I worked it out pretty well. That was in the morning, then the day was quieter. As far as I could do I did.
I ate the branch in the morning, it wasn't delicious, but I did it. Then came the most edible thing.
But that was not the only frog, there are days when there are several frogs, some of them big and fat, and then there are smaller frogs.
It is always preferable to get the biggest frog first, when this happens you say: Well, if I can handle this one, I can handle the others. It gives strength and impetus to face the other jobs or tasks.
In life there are many frogs, some big and fat and some smaller.
It is always preferable to solve the biggest or most serious first, always.
Not only for the sake of being more organised, but also because this increases our strength, gives us energy.
Achievements motivate us more and more every day.
If we leave the branches for the end, we may no longer have the desire, strength or courage to do it. The hardest thing to do is to do it first.
Planning, organisation, strategy, these points are very important when we have to eat frogs, complex tasks, hard work or problems.
Thank you Galen for these wonderful topics that always motivate and thank you all for reading this far.
Best regards and see you next time.
