This weekend was a genuine blast. Even though we're in school time, Lily's mom decided to take the little one to the beach. She did well, organizing it with the school and such - although she dumped the catching-up on me. But Lily doesn't spend much time with her mother anymore, and her feeling loved is more important than me having to push her to do home-work later.
So, they left Thursday. There's a lot of stuff going on in my girlfriend's life with her ultra-adolescent daughter at the moment, and at her work, so Thursday was her sharing all that - I always take notes, Lily will be in that age as well, plus the work stuff helps me manage my bakery better. There's always something to learn! Pay attention!
Friday started awesome. Slept well, nobody waking me up with nightmares or going to the bathroom or "Wake up, papa, it's daylight!" at 5.30am. (I love my daughter, but seriously, what the f is that? The funny thing is, it happens usually when she fell asleep later than usual.) Went to the gym, pushed myself a little further on the shoulder training, regretted that a little.
Coming home, my cleaning lady was already there - her house almost burned down because her neighbor saw "a ghost cat" in his house and decided it was a good idea to pour gasoline in the entrance and light it on fire. Can't make that up. Others say he just forgot to put out the fire he was cooking with. A friend of mine had organized support for the 82-year-old ghostcatburner, so I asked her if those funds would also repair the damage for the neighbors. It will be now. Done.
I talked my cleaning lady out of filing a "Call of attention" against the man. Not because it wouldn't be just, but because one can't trust the institutions here - they might turn it into a "attempted murder" charge, even though the filing doesn't give for that. Happened to me - from a legal call to comply with a mediation agreement that I had with Lily's mom, they made a charge for "Psychological Abuse of a Minor". Imagine the reaction of neighbors and friends to that stuff...
Then it was work all day ( I got SO much done! I impressed myself!), and the evening and night with my girlfriend. Lots of talking was pendant. We got a lot of things out of the way, aligned again in others, readjusted commitments and compromise to better fit our current situations. We didn't make it 5 years for nothing.
Saturday was beautiful. Waking up next to her and spending the morning with her is something that has become scarce, so we enjoyed it a lot. Watching Last of Us, the You, until around 11am. Then I finally had a inspiring video call with one of my best friends who lives in Serbia. Again, I got work done all day, from washing and hanging clothes over fixing things around the flat to finishing excel sheets pending for 2 months. I started working on a weekly planer for Lily, and probably me as well. Kind of improvised, but she'll have ideas how to make it pretty.
I watched movies - like really. An entire freaking movie. Not even just one, but two. From start to end. Still can't believe it. Opened my first beer at 4pm, started folding Lily's clothes while watching, then just lying on the bed, enjoying the second beer, watching. I love my projector.
At 7pm, I went to my Gfs place to chat with her and her brother (they work at the same place) and try to give them some ideas to solve some of the current huge problems. That was beer 3 and 4.
The missus always dresses up, but for that day, I decided to do the same. Didn't look shabby at all! We went out for the whole night - until the next morning. 2 more beer at the The Doors tribute concert that a friend had arranged, then to a underwhelming 90s party at my favorite brewery - beer 7 was strong, but I was motivated and ordered number 8. But that was too much, so I shared it with my GF. Mango IPA - it's my favorite, they only have it from time to time. Almost crashed my Duolingo Streak! But remembered in the bathroom, so I did a polish lesson while peeing. Must've been weird for those around, since polish sounds like summoning snake demons. Drank a lot of water, too. That helped on Sunday.
Sunday was chill. Went to the Hampi Mascari Market, got some Papas con Berro as well, and spend the morning chilling. The afternoon was, AGAIN, productive - I had totally forgotten how much can be done without a 6-year-old around.
Tuned out the evening with another (sic!) movie - Havoc, with one of my favorite actors, Mr. Hardy. It was a really fun movie, perfect character for him. Action with really funnily stupid scenes, and his snarky attitude with the charme of someone who always gets punched right in the face and doesn't really care. I put on Kraven afterwards, but I do regret that one. Should've watched Taboo again instead.
So, that was it. In total, I had way too many beers, not enough sleep, spent too much money, laughed very hard, got some important relationship work done, structured my thoughts about the future of the bakery, got some stuff done around the flat, listened to very loud but great music, and am more exhausted than before. Life worth living. It was like when my parents went out for the weekend, but the other way around. Probably how they felt when my brother and me were at aunts & uncles.
