Greetings #Hive friends around the world, I hope you had a wonderful and restful weekend. The first rains have fallen in the area where I live, and they've helped bring the temperature down a bit. I think I mentioned before that it's a warm climate with intense sunshine and high temperatures year-round. Some months are hotter than others, but with the arrival of rain, the place cools down, the trees turn green, and the gardens, with their beautiful flowers and scents, offer a pleasant space to relax and recharge. The weekend topics proposed by @galenkp are very interesting. For my post, I'll answer question number 4:
You have the ability to change one thing in your life—about how you think, your attitude, or your actions. What is it, and why? How does it improve your life?
As human beings, we have the ability to adapt to certain environments and also the ability to change "some things" about our lifestyle, always seeking well-being and a healthy lifestyle that allows us to enjoy the little things life offers us, to live it to the fullest. Changing certain attitudes or actions is not as easy as it seems, as it is rooted in our being, but with effort, discipline, and perseverance, it can be achieved. One of the attitudes I've managed to change in the last two years of my life has been to let go of my insistence on achieving perfectionism and have a different attitude when it comes to sewing.
One of the things I'm most passionate about is sewing. It relaxes me, I love it, and I enjoy making a garment. But when it comes to the finish, I'm very demanding, and if the garment didn't turn out the way I imagined, I'd just unstitch it and start the process over again, trying to make it as close to or exactly as I imagined.
I like to create and see the finished project is satisfying, but health and well-being are very important, so taking a break from this level of demand and taking things calmly has been of great help to change my attitude and actions in this regard. Making a garment merits a long or short process depending on the degree of difficulty required, but at some point when you want such a perfect result, a balance is necessary and see if it is convenient to be so demanding or do it little by little. In recent projects and with my change of attitude closely linked to the actions, I have achieved better results and I have a different vision of the final product. In a sports top, I glued the elastic with the letters upside down, instead of unstitching, I took it on the funny side and thought, it's a unique design, I don't think you can get a top like that in the store.
This change of attitude has brought many benefits when doing a project, I even invest less time and I do not get stressed for not achieving the desired result, I do not mean with this that if it is going wrong I cannot correct it, it is possible, but with a different attitude and calmly, in addition, spending a lot of time at the machine sewing and unstitching a project requires double the time, but if it is done with a different attitude the corresponding time is invested and it brings improvements to your health, in the past, remaining for many hours sewing, in my eagerness to achieve a perfect finish, caused me severe pain in my spine and headaches, which is why I was away from sewing for more than a year, currently I do not strive and I advance calmly, what each day allows, I also set a limit for myself to sew a maximum of six hours a day taking breaks, I feel good like this and I have more time for other activities.
Blessings!
