The Right Tool For The Job
Every now and again I end up doing the right thing on the very first try. I'll admit it's not often, but every now and again. It's like Sam chasing a squirrel-I get it right just often enough to make me keep at it.
There it is. You can see right away how it's the absolute right tool for the task. Form and function with space age materials. Perfect.
And there is the back side. Or is it the bottom?
There is your very last hint. If you don't have what it's for now, I'll explain right presently.
It's a single cup coffee maker. A collapsible single cup coffee maker. It's PERFECT for my motorcycle camping.
I was on Amazon looking for a single serving coffee thingy that @scubahead showed to be almost perfect for my camping needs. I'm on about page 437 when I spy this beauty. It's perfect!
That is a completely standard #2 triangle filter, available where ever coffee is sold. It just so happens that I have a couple of boxes of the damn things from other camp coffee project. You know, the less than perfect sort.
I've used an automotive grade funnel (worked pretty well), a cut off water bottle, a Merlita brand product, and just about everything you can imagine.
I used one tablespoon of freshly ground coffee and it really worked pretty darn well. The coffee cup is courtesy of my friend @sultnpapper.
That's all it takes-a little hot water and you have a great cup of coffee.
Lest you all think I did a perfect project today you will note that you can't see the whole pot that the water is being poured out of. I melted the crap out of the handle by heating water on the stove for this project. So when I'm done here I have melted plastic to scrape off a couple of places.
Why do people think it's necessary to move stuff like a melting handle? Instead of localizing the problem as much as possible I had to spread the joy around...
There it is. Hot and fresh. I can't believe how well this whole process worked.
Yeah, you are right. It's a cheesy post. I haven't written a thing in several months so I figure it's ok to start out with a bit of fluff.
Sue me.
Thanks for taking a look. I really do appreciate it.
