Spoiler Alert: It's Dead People
Happy New Year. Not so very happy when you consider the musicians we lost in 2020. It's an ugly big list of really talented people.
Because I'm just not bright enough to rate some of these people above another I'm going to list them in the order they died.
Neil Peart: Drummer extraordinaire for Rush. This is a look at just Neil Peart in concert with the band. Amazing look at the drummer's craft.
Bob Shane: Kingston Trio (banjo in this video). Anybody that listened to music in the late 50s and early 60s know this song by heart. And everybody remembers the Kingston Trio.
Barbara Martin: The Supremes (left in this video, in the days before Diana Ross joined the group.) Mostly I remember Diana Ross and the Surpremes, but the three women had a big time run before she joined the group.
Kenny Rogers: A monstrous career in Country Music and film. Not everbody remembers that he started out in a rocker type band, the First Edition. Certainly where I first found out about him.
Ellis Marsalis: Jazz Legend. I'm not much of a jazz guy, really, but everybody knows Bradford and Wynton Marsalis. Ellis was a really great pianist and patriarch of the Marsalis Family. It's good clean music.
So. This list is just getting way too long. I'm going to finish up with my musical heroes lost in 2020. It's an ugly long list this year. There will be more to come!
