There were four-weekend concepts to choose from this week, and I chose the second one on the list, which is Keeping Secrets, and states the question,
A friend or family member tells you a secret asking that you tell no one else. However, the secret is damaging and detrimental to another friend or family member. Do you break trust and divulge the secret or not? Explain in 300+ words using images you photographed personally where possible.
A secret is meant not to be disclosed whatever the circumstances are. But, will it be sufficient to divulge a secret when there’s someone in the family member is having a hard time in his life? It goes nothing wrong with listening to a secret that others entrusted you with. Why would tell someone not to tell you a secret if that person trusted you enough to be the holder of a secret.

For someone like me who had a big circle of friends, I knew secrets that might endanger my friend’s reputation and break good relationships with others. I believe that telling a secret is a way to test someone’s genuineness and loyalty. It could lead to disaster or the other way around. I remember a friend of mine and will name him Justin, who shared a secret about how he made a cheat sheet and he used it to pass the exam. However, Justin only told it to me when a friend of ours was caught cheating after he threw his cheat sheet at him.
Our friend who was caught had no idea where it came from and he just used it. Unfortunately, he was caught looking at the cheat sheet and our professor immediately signed his midterm exam to zero. I saw my friend crying aloud and almost lost his sane because our midterm is very crucial. Even though I had an urge to tell him that the cheat sheet came from our friend, I had to suppress myself not telling it. You know, it was a dilemma where I was torn between my two friend’s thorny situations.

Our midterm week ended; our exam results were out as well. We got good results in every subject but I felt bad for my friend. I was contemplating to spill who made the cheat sheet because as a class representative, it was part of my responsibility to supervise our section regardless of whoever did a misdeed. I told Justin to tell the truth and explained to our friend how sorry he was. Well, it took him four days to decide to do the right thing. Although it was his fault that our friend got caught, it was not his fault that our friend used that cheat sheet for his own benefit as well.
After the incident happened, they reconciled and I was so glad that they understood each other’s side. As for me, spilling secrets was not the only choice I had. I believed that finding an opportunity to settle things for themselves is better than putting the trust given to me at risk. Notably, when someone shared a secret with you, it’s your duty and you must have to keep it safe regardless of circumstances.
