It's absolutely true. I have been known to be very annoying. Not necessarily on purpose, but sometimes I annoy people because I push buttons. Not like the type in the photo either, I push emotional buttons especially when people say one thing and do something entirely the opposite.
We are all swayed by emotions at times - it happens, we are human. On the annoyometer, I would say I can go from 1 to 60 in 0,2seconds. I think that my most annoying character trait is digging in my heels when I feel I've been screwed over or wronged. Unfortunately I become very stubborn and I can hold grudges for a long time. I am pretty sure that annoys people on the receiving end. I have a fair amount of forgiveness in me and I give people the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but there's also a line and once that line is crossed - well, I know I can become exasperatingly irksome.
Many years ago I was on a University outing where the class were staying together in shared accommodation in a little town while we completed various assignments. I got along with most of them very well and while we were all pretty stressed, we were generally a considerate bunch. Except for one woman who I just couldn't gel with. We were two very different people with very different world views.
On the third evening we were there, one of the men announced that he was going to the local supermarket and was happy to get anything for anyone to save us all a trip. I thought this was extremely thoughtful so I walked up to him and thanked him for the offer and wanted to say that I would take him up on it but out of nowhere this woman cut me off by literally jumping in front of me, whipping out a wad of cash that she'd just rummaged out of her bag and started waving it around in front of him.
Whatever I was in the middle of saying trailed off and I took a step backwards. I looked at her waving her money around as if she was in a strip club and he was a pole dancer. She had a really weird warped smile on her face which I found highly disturbing.
He looked at her, then looked at me. I think we were both rather shocked. She then started rambling off a list of things for him to buy for her and flipping through her money. After about twenty seconds, I just laughed under my breath and turned to walk away shaking my head. She didn't like that one bit and barked at me "What's your problem Emma?"
I very calmly stated that she was being very rude. She had interrupted and thought it was ok to do so because she's a rich, stuck up snob who looks down on everyone else around her and that she should stop being an entitled brat.
Her face turned a very strange shade of red amid the deafening silence around us. I met her gaze with nonchalance and told Jared that we could talk once he came back, I was happy to give him my cash for the milk after everyone else had put in their orders, I didn't mind waiting my turn.

I think that annoyed her immensely.
The animosity between us never went away, but she was never rude to me like that again. I think what really annoyed her is that she didn't have a good come back or rebuttal. Oh well. Too bad.
On a lighter side, I also know of a few other traits of mine that are irritating. I make really bad jokes sometimes. Like REALLY, REALLY bad jokes, puns and plays on words that sometimes I find hysterically funny and other people find downright vexatious. The worst is when I try to say something but it's so funny in my own mind that I can't stop laughing and can barely get a word out. It's a great feeling, having a good laughing fit every now and again, but others very rarely seem to appreciate it.
Looking forward to reading about other annoyers and annoyees in the community.
