Studying is something that'll never go out of fashion. The man who stops gaining knowledge is one that's already on his way to the grave.
All our breakthroughs in science, technology and art are as a result of studies and research. This is because we want to better improve the human society and probably make some profit on the side but 🤫 you didn't hear that part from me.
I don't remember how old I was but it was a big deal when I watched the first Percy Jackson movie because for the first time, I was interested in mythology.
I'm also one of those people who love the book versions to the movie versions of stories, so immediately I found out that the series was available as books, I lost interest in the movies and switched to the books.
In no time, I was hooked on Greek mythology and started searching for other books by the author Rick Riordan. I soon found another series that was centered on Egyptian mythology.
I learnt that the Egyptians used a system of writing called hieroglyphics. For some reason at that time, I felt a closer connection to this series (even though it's fiction) because I'm from Africa and I was learning something new about the history of another country on the continent.

It got to the point where I actually downloaded a book online for beginners who wanted to learn about hieroglyphs. Lol, it only took two days to realize it wasn't a walk in the park.
It wasn't possible because I had no basis for comparison to know what was more important and what was less important. I didn't have the patience and wanted to learn everything at once.
I fancy those scenes in the movies where some archeologist finds something new like an old scroll from a dig site and somehow only two people in the world are capable of interpreting it.
Suddenly everybody wants them on that project, why? It's because no one else can do it.
I must confess, one of the biggest allure that hieroglyphics had for me was that it wasn't something you see the average person parading that they could read.
Ancient languages like Latin and Greek are used in a lot of today's science. I've seen hundreds of words in greek and Latin and I also know a few of my friends who are Catholic that know a few Latin words, but I can't say the same when it comes to hieroglyphics.
If I could study one thing, then it would be how to read and write hieroglyphs.
