Today was the best Sunday in my life! @imabby17 is back, even if just briefly, she is back after six years.
I had serious doubts we would meet any time soon because of how expensive it is for us to go there or for her to come here. However, as the saying goes, "when there is a will, there is a way" and her will to be here for her sister HS graduation made everybody join resources and find a way to make her return happen.
Due to a "migration error", @imabby17 had to travel from Puerto Ordaz to Caracas because putting a seal on her passport had to be done in the main office (don't ask me why that was not done on the Brazilian-Venezuelan border; maybe a $30 fee has to do with it).
I guess we can be thankful for that arbitrary consular red tape because now we can have her in Caracas for a few days.
We left home at about 5 am. Her bus was expected to arrive at 6.
We got a bit delayed due to a missing exit error by the taxi driver
We waited some minutes for her to come up, but then we decided to go down to the bus bay.
And there she was already waiting. It was such an exciting moment. The warmest hug we've given and received in such a long time.
We got out of the terminal and waited for a bus to take us to Petare (from there we could either take another bus to the apartment or wait for my nephew to pick us up.
We had to wait 30 plus minutes for the bus to be full. We used that time to chat about many things.
Not very comfortable, but we are used to this kind of chaos.
On our way to Petare, my nephew comfirmed he could pick us up, so we waited for him.
Funny how life finds ways to replay some events. Back in 2008, when @imabby17 was 6 years old, this same nephew picked us up from the airport as we were coming back from the USA.
After a rainy hour, the sun come up.
We arrived at the apartment and @manujune had prepared (in record time) some cute surprises.
For them this was a long-awaited embarace. We had breakfast and even though the traveler was tired after 12 hours on a bus, she wanted to plan ways to share time with us.
She brought us some Brazilian snacks.
We have her little presentes and even passion fruit pie.
She wanted to go to Cerró el Ávila by cable car, but it started to rain and the lines to get tickets we're too long, so we went to the mall.
She tried some dresses
And hats
And after a snack we headed back home.
Even the bus ride felt like fun.
We still have many things we'd like to do. The next days may be a bit a of rush, but we will do our best to enjoy whatever time we get to spend together.
I missed my big baby so much and I am so happy to have her back, even if just briefly.
